Lonestar nursing applicants for spring 2016

Published

Hi guys! I will be applying for lonestar cyfair and a few others in the spring of 2016. I was wondering if anyone had started studying for the hesi and also what grades have they gotten so far in their classes!

Heb B vaccinations are a series of 3 shots done within a 6 month span. Accelerated Heb B is actually a combination of Heb A and B vaccines that can be completed within a 30 days for all 3 doses BUT a booster shot is needed a year later from the last dose. Hope this clarify it. I spoke with Joe, PA from redi clinic at HEB on Spring Cypress. He was very helpful so was his MA Phet! they were able to put my tdap and flu shot on my insurance so I didn't pay anything for those. I got my varicella, MRR and hep b titers done here as well for about $210. Hope this help you guys. Titers are required for Cy-Fair. Hoping all my titers come back with quantitive results because that's what the program requires and that I show immunity for them. Wish all of us the best of luck. Stressing out until we get the clear from everything. Oh and I don't think titers are covered by any insurance but I could be wrong. Some urgent care I went to wanted roughly $500 for everything ....

Thank you!

$210? that's crazy. That's with insurance? Do you know anything about any orientations we will have??? I have no idea what the books are, scrub color, times, days, etc.

that was better than the $450+ at the other place! and no, thats not with insurance. I did my fair share of research and I don't believe titers are covered. Some public health places will do it for super cheap like $15-$20 per vaccine but I tried contacting houston public health but no one answered .... and yes fast track hep b is done in 3 months but the booster is a year later which I'm not 100% sure if that is acceptable for the program. I have no idea about the orientations! I wish I knew though! does anyone know if CyFair offer night classes?

I do not think cyfair offers night classes. Jane said clinicals were days, nights, evenings and weekend end tough. I wish I had info so I could arrange child care.

same here! thats the only reason I want to know. I wish we had an information session before the boot camp ... the boot camp is scheduled so closed to the actual start date.

I had my Hep B shots done in 1994, like not long after I was born. I'm going to get a titer. But since the accelerated shots are a 3 month span, I would like to start now before December because that's the deadline for everything for Kingwood. Do you guys think I should just go on and get accelerated Hep B? I'm conflicted.

My first heb b shot was 1992! Lol. I was advised that it was a life long shot although in some rare causes some people don't show immunity. I did my titer on Tuesday so I'm hoping I'm in the clear. I'm going to wait to get my results to do the accelerated shot (hoping that won't be necessary).

Does anyone know if we're suppose to get a second email for the background check/ fingerprinting??? or is that part of the social security verification thing on certified profile?? ):

I got a message/email from certified background saying that mine was done. I think it can take 3 weeks to get it through mail.. then you have to upload it onto the certified background. I don't know about the fingerprint though. I just left redi clinic and had to pay $159 for the titters (chicken pox and MMR)

I got accepted as an alternate. My score was a 6.77 I'm so nervous. I don't think my score was good enough. Especially if they cut off at 7.00

I don't know what the cut off was. My score was 7.39 and I didn't get into kingwood. I did get cyfair though

Was cyfair your first choice?
