Lonestar 2014 Fall Hopefuls!

Published

Ok I know it's very early starting this but I am so excited I couldn't help it! Application period doesn't even start until January! My journey has been a long one and I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel so I am sharing a little of that experience here and I would love to hear from others as well.

I just received my clearance letter from the BON so I am clear to apply in January for North Harris and Montgomery ADN programs, unfortunately I missed Kingwood. At this point I have an 11.1 and I'm about to retake the HESI so we shall see what is in store for me. I'm done with all my pre-reqs for my BSN and I'm so ready to start the next phase of my education and get on with more taking care of people! It's been 25 years since I decided I wanted to be a nurse. Twenty years of raising my kids, taking care of soldiers' families and single soldiers and eight years of riding in an ambulance later, I'm ready to follow my dream! Watch me go!

Getting ready to take my HESI in two weeks....I have been going over the HESI assessment review. The vocabulary seems like a piece of cake but I'm really sweating the verb noun, pronoun stuff. Does anyone recall what the majority of the English grammar section consisted of? I mean it's been like 30 years since I have worried about nouns, pronouns, adjectives, etc. Lol![/quote']

Do you have the book they recommended for review? The questions on those practice tests are exactly the type of questions on the Hesi. In fact many of them are exactly the same questions! Its been 25 years since Ive had to worry about it too but it really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I highly recommend that book! Take the practice tests over and over if you need to. You'll do great! I'm rootin for ya!

Yes I have the review book. Just wanted to get a consensus on it. I have been picking it apart because I want to make double sure I score as high as possible. Thanks for the info on the exam. I think I'm ready to knock it out!

Hello guys !!! I also applied to the LVN-Montgomery 2014 with a score of 6.33. I have not received any response, and oh it is so nerve racking. If I don't get accepted to the program this round I will be applying for the ADN-NH. I have to retake my HESI because I made a 73 on the Vocab section, but above 90 on all the others.

Sparklesmeds, what was your score for the program? I think you are on the same boat as I am with HESI, right? You have to retake it?

I do need to retake it, I made a 74 on the math portion. The rest of my test scores were A's. I'll retake it in a couple of weeks.

I had planned on applying for lvn-montgomery but I had issues I couldn't overcome. If Im not accepted for this adn program I'll apply for LVN Kingwood. When is Montgomery suppose to send out letters?

Montgomery sends out notification in Jan, but nothing yet... Well maybe this week, we will see :)

Is anyone else waiting for Montgomery-LVN program?

Hope you hear something soon!

Nothing's guaranteed, but based on previous years, the first four and strong possible fifth person listed going wherever they want. Those with 11.1 if NH on your list chances are that's where you'll be due to tougher competition in the other locations for fewer spots. But depends on how many and the scores. Those in the high 10's don't give up we have some at NH now with that score it's a crap shoot each year with your competition. Hopes that relieves some of you! Good luck to you all!!! Never give up on your dream!!! I am second semester, if I can of each and every one of you can!!!

Thanks for the scores Sparklesmedic :)

Hello you guys! My first choice is Cy-fair. I have a few questions. After I take the Hesi, where do I send my scores to and how long would that take?

You must deliver your paperwork to room 250i. If anyone has questions about the application or what happens after you get accepted, please ask. There is a lot of paperwork and other stuff you need to be ready for.
