Ok I know it's very early starting this but I am so excited I couldn't help it! Application period doesn't even start until January! My journey has been a long one and I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel so I am sharing a little of that experience here and I would love to hear from others as well.
I just received my clearance letter from the BON so I am clear to apply in January for North Harris and Montgomery ADN programs, unfortunately I missed Kingwood. At this point I have an 11.1 and I'm about to retake the HESI so we shall see what is in store for me. I'm done with all my pre-reqs for my BSN and I'm so ready to start the next phase of my education and get on with more taking care of people! It's been 25 years since I decided I wanted to be a nurse. Twenty years of raising my kids, taking care of soldiers' families and single soldiers and eight years of riding in an ambulance later, I'm ready to follow my dream! Watch me go!
I just got an email for the LVN-Montgomery program. I was placed on the alternate list. I'm going to wait for the RN program though. They wanted me to sign a letter of intent and I don't want to risk them taking me off the the RN list. I hope I get into an RN program. I am so worried now!!
I got into the lvn program at montgomery! I'm gonna talk to my husband tonight bc I don't know if I'm gonna accept it or not. I really want to do the RN program at montgomery, but with an 11.43 I know I will probably be on the border. My second choice is North Harris so I know I should be a shoe in for that one. Ugh idk what to do!
spring housewife....do what you feel you are going to be most happy with. I will say however, that if you have already finished all of your prereq's and your score is that good, then I would go for the RN if you are wanting to work in any of the hospitals here in Houston. If that is not important to you then go with what your heart tells you to do. No matter which route you take it will be about the same amount of time but possibly could cost more. I wish you luck in your decision. i know its a hard one to make.

Thanks for making the chart SparklesMedic!
Just wanted to throw it out there that I have a X-ray student whose daughter is finishing up the nursing program at Montgomery, and she said there were alternates accepted in the 10s who made it into the program because there were some students who were accepted but couldn't get finances in order, paperwork in order, or pass drug screenings, ect. So even if you get accepted as an alternate don't get down on yourself. It's obviously no guarantee, but a chance!
