Ok I know it's very early starting this but I am so excited I couldn't help it! Application period doesn't even start until January! My journey has been a long one and I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel so I am sharing a little of that experience here and I would love to hear from others as well.
I just received my clearance letter from the BON so I am clear to apply in January for North Harris and Montgomery ADN programs, unfortunately I missed Kingwood. At this point I have an 11.1 and I'm about to retake the HESI so we shall see what is in store for me. I'm done with all my pre-reqs for my BSN and I'm so ready to start the next phase of my education and get on with more taking care of people! It's been 25 years since I decided I wanted to be a nurse. Twenty years of raising my kids, taking care of soldiers' families and single soldiers and eight years of riding in an ambulance later, I'm ready to follow my dream! Watch me go!
So I think I'm going to do everything for the LVN program as if I am starting in May. If I do get into the ADN program at Montgomery they will still let me know won't they? At that point I will give up my LVN spot to go to the ADN program. I'm thinking since both programs need to do the Fasttrack finger print and background thing I might as well go ahead and get it done so I will have my blue card in hand by the time acceptance letters go out. Also I need to get my CPR cert done. Does anyone know the chances of getting into Montgomery ADN as a transition student? My score is still a 11.43 on the transition score sheet. I feel bad holding this LVN spot until I find out something from the ADN program, but alternates go through all the same info sessions and pre procedures as admits do right? Sorry for all my ranting lol I hope everyone is having a good weekend!
I'm not sure if it takes you off the ADN list if you accept an LVN offer or not. I do know that I mentioned applying for both Montgomery LVN and n.h. adn and was just highly discouraged due to holding a position someone else could fill if I were accepted for lvn. If I dont make the adn list I'll apply for kingwood LVN in late April. I would be curious to find out though.
I have been reading the fall 2013 hopefuls forum like crazy and there was one person who was accepted to the lvn program at Montgomery. She went to the orientation and everything. She applied to the adn program at Montgomery and when she got accepted she accepted that program spot and I'm guessing gave up the lvn spot. I talked to someone at Montgomery when I dropped off my acceptance letter today and asked about the cut off transition score from last year and it was around a 10.2. Apparently they take anywhere from 25-30 transition students. I told her I applied to the adn program too and would wait and see if I got into montgomery. She never said anything about getting taken off the list or anything. At this point I just want to go to Montgomery whether it be through the lvn then transition or straight adn lol

ashley that is a great score! I'm positive you'll get in, no worries! I'm so excited too, I cant wait for April!
Congrats to yall in the LVN program, I'm rooting for you!
Springhousewife- what everyone else said...do that! What you feel is right for you is what you need to do! You have a good score, it's better than border line with most of these campuses. If you go for RN, apply at all that you can to improve your chances, I know you'll get in somewhere if thats what you want to do! Either way we're pulling for you!
