Ok I know it's very early starting this but I am so excited I couldn't help it! Application period doesn't even start until January! My journey has been a long one and I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel so I am sharing a little of that experience here and I would love to hear from others as well.
I just received my clearance letter from the BON so I am clear to apply in January for North Harris and Montgomery ADN programs, unfortunately I missed Kingwood. At this point I have an 11.1 and I'm about to retake the HESI so we shall see what is in store for me. I'm done with all my pre-reqs for my BSN and I'm so ready to start the next phase of my education and get on with more taking care of people! It's been 25 years since I decided I wanted to be a nurse. Twenty years of raising my kids, taking care of soldiers' families and single soldiers and eight years of riding in an ambulance later, I'm ready to follow my dream! Watch me go!
I just didn't mean to disappear, but I had foot surgery and it has taken me sometime to get back online. Wish you well. Let me know how it goes.
oh my! I hope you're recovering well and have lots of help! Thanks for the sweet words, I am so ready to get that Hesi done and over with! Keeping you in thoughts and prayers!
Hey Lonab04,
I am also an alternate for the LVN program at Montgomery. When I dropped off the acceptance to be an alternate I asked what number I was on the list and they said I was 19 out of 36, I believe. Which is kind of odd because there are only 24 spots for the program. Do you know where you stand on the list?
Lonab04, I didn't decline. I am still on the waiting list. I going to keep my fingers cross and pray to get in to the LVN program. I was thinking that I should retake the Hesi to apply to the ADN program. I have till March 6 to take the test. So I think I am going to go for it. I keep missing by a couple of point off the Vocab test. I do not understand why, but I am going to try again. Can anyone give me some pointers for the Vocab test please. Thanks
Lonab04, what is your score for the LVN program? I was thinking of applying to the CYfair and Kingwood as well? But I hear that thier program is harder to get in to . The pressure huh!
Can anyone give me some pointers for the Vocab test please. Thanks
baandrew do you have the book the nursing dept recommends for studying the HESI? McCraw Hill's Nursing Entrance Exams 2nd edition. That book has practice exams for all sections and I swear they ask identical questions on the exam including the vocabulary section. I highly recommend it if you dont have it. I'm taking the exam next Thursday and I've been scouring that book and CD. I'm confident it's helped me but I'll let you know next week!
Lonab04- ok I thought I was the only one! I called certified profile and they said the same thing, that the school never gave them the form. I called the school and they never returned my call lol I haven't checked in awhile so maybe by the time I get back on it will be fixed.
Also if anyone needs the hesi review book I have the one the school recommended and it does help. I only marked one small part and didn't use the book at all. I got a 93.6 on the hesi with 100 in math and my lowest being a 88 in a&p. if anyone wants the book I am willing to give it to whoever needs it. My math part was a lot of conversions if that helps.
i did my fingerprinting yesterday and completely forgot they were gonna take a picture! I recently decided since I'm not working currently and we don't start nursing school until the summer I would dye my hair purple and pink... Hopefully that doesn't matter lol
SparklesMedic, I do have the book and I recently found this online that I hope will help me with the vocab. I ll be honest my vocabulary is not build as strong as I wish it was. For example before taking the Hesi test I never knew what cornucopia meant. I do know J
