Lonestar 2014 Fall Hopefuls!

Published

Ok I know it's very early starting this but I am so excited I couldn't help it! Application period doesn't even start until January! My journey has been a long one and I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel so I am sharing a little of that experience here and I would love to hear from others as well.

I just received my clearance letter from the BON so I am clear to apply in January for North Harris and Montgomery ADN programs, unfortunately I missed Kingwood. At this point I have an 11.1 and I'm about to retake the HESI so we shall see what is in store for me. I'm done with all my pre-reqs for my BSN and I'm so ready to start the next phase of my education and get on with more taking care of people! It's been 25 years since I decided I wanted to be a nurse. Twenty years of raising my kids, taking care of soldiers' families and single soldiers and eight years of riding in an ambulance later, I'm ready to follow my dream! Watch me go!

Could you please add me to the post? I have an 11.7 also and have chosen Montgomery as my first pick campus.

Updated repost

I got into the Lvn at montgomery. They called me today.

Woohoo! Great to hear Red thats awesome!

Yes I started the background check. I did my fingerprints last week. I have been trying to find a CPR class nearby. It says the closest one to me is Huntsville? April seems so far away! If I don't get in an ADN program then I will definitely do the LVN then transition program.

Congrats Redhen84 :)

Thank you....Baandrew have you heard anything?

Twinkle toes what campuses have u applied too? My score is a 10.5 so I'm really nervous as well!!

Hi Redhen84! Being that I' am just trying to get into LVN program I plan on applying to Tomball, Kingwood, and Cy-Fair with points of 6.44. And for the ASN program I'm gonna go ahead and give it a shot at KW and Cy-Fair with a 10.44. I would love to apply everywhere else but their programs start so soon I really cant until my fiancé finds a job, that's one thing that's been holding me back unfortunately. I'am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO nervous as well! I have been going to school for prereq's since 2007-8? and this is the first time I am actually going to apply! Where are you applying??

Redhen,

Congrats! I am so happy for you. You must be on cloud 9 right now.

Thanks, Redhen84, I will be sure to studying them. I am going over math, many many times. Practice makes perfect, so I hope that holds true when I get to the test.

Hi Nightingale360! I recently took the HESI at Kingwood on Feb.3 and just wanted to mention for the test I took, the math portion did happen to have quite a few word problems. I made the mistake of not studying those too much because I thought they wouldn't have many, or if they did they were going to be very easy. But once I saw them it was like I freaked out and lost all train of thought. I say that in no way to make you nervous, but just wanted to give a tip to read the study guide carefully when it comes to them, just so you can go in confidently if you see them on the test. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!!!! :)

Do you guys know if the conversions were more decimals to fractions and vice versa or were they more metric conversions?

Hi kenken! I took my HESI test on Feb.3 and I realized on mine I had very few metric conversions, the very basics of the chart in study guide. Fraction wise I noticed from mines just reducing. But my best advice would be if you have the time, take the practice problems from the study guide and right them out on a sheet of paper and make multiple copies. I did this and everyday would do a booklet I made of all the practice questions. It really helped me out a lot! BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!!!
