Lonestar 2014 Fall Hopefuls!

Published

Ok I know it's very early starting this but I am so excited I couldn't help it! Application period doesn't even start until January! My journey has been a long one and I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel so I am sharing a little of that experience here and I would love to hear from others as well.

I just received my clearance letter from the BON so I am clear to apply in January for North Harris and Montgomery ADN programs, unfortunately I missed Kingwood. At this point I have an 11.1 and I'm about to retake the HESI so we shall see what is in store for me. I'm done with all my pre-reqs for my BSN and I'm so ready to start the next phase of my education and get on with more taking care of people! It's been 25 years since I decided I wanted to be a nurse. Twenty years of raising my kids, taking care of soldiers' families and single soldiers and eight years of riding in an ambulance later, I'm ready to follow my dream! Watch me go!

How's the Pharm course going for you? The HESI was pretty easy. I took it early this summer to see how I would do, no studying or anything. Math has always been my weakest area but yes I was a little crazy over that one point! Definitely get the study guide! I purchased it a couple of months ago and noticed that many of the questions in the book I had answered on the HESI. So get it and take those practice tests then go take the HESI, I know you'll do great! Let me know how ya do!

Pharm is very time consuming and a lot of material to cover. It is however very interesting and can be done. I highly recommend taking it solo or with a non-science based course. I think it should be a 4 credit class instead of 3.

I will definitely keep that in mind, thanks for the heads up!

Hi everyone! I am applying in January at Montgomery, Tomball, and NH. I am also turning in an application soon for the LVN program at Montgomery as a back up. I think I pretty much have my ducks in a row for applying. I took my HESI test last week and I'm so glad it's over!

Applying with a 11.4332, hopefully that will get me in somewhere! lol

Hello all and congrats on your journey. I am finishing up my first semester at NH now. If you can take pharmacology before the program, do it. It can be done with the program, but trust me you will have enough to worry about so save yourself some trouble. Also, unless they have changed the rules you can apply to all who are accepting applications at that time. Good luck! Hope to meet some of you next summer!!

That's great, spring housewife! I'm sure you will get in with that score! I plan on retaking the HESI very soon so wish me luck! I can't wait to meet new people and get started with this adventure. I have everything ready, just keep stalking the website for new info and AN for insight!

lth1123 thanks for that info! I plan on taking Pharm in the spring and getting it over with. I'm registered in an online class, have you any experience with that class online? That's great about the app locations, definitely makes it easier for some. Will be great to meet you next summer, thanks for your input!

I took pharm online at Kingwood back in the summer. It's a lot of work of course, but it can be done I got an A.

The website says they have extended the application dates to the Monday after spring break. ;)

That is so awesome! Kingwood extended their's last fall too. I wonder if there is any significance to that, like fewer applicants maybe? I applied for Montgomery's lvn program just in case but I am feeling more positive about getting in at NH for ADN though, especially after I retake the HESI! I'm getting antsy already and it's still early yet!

Thats great! I'll be taking a computer course and an ethics course as well so hopefully I can pull off an A too!

I know I am so ready to apply. But first I've got to take sociology the first 8 weeks and tackle the HESI. I don't care what campus I get in just as long as I get in! Lol! So on the HESI do you just print the test ticket for the campus you want to test at then just show up during testing hours or do you have to schedule the time with the school?
