Ok I know it's very early starting this but I am so excited I couldn't help it! Application period doesn't even start until January! My journey has been a long one and I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel so I am sharing a little of that experience here and I would love to hear from others as well.
I just received my clearance letter from the BON so I am clear to apply in January for North Harris and Montgomery ADN programs, unfortunately I missed Kingwood. At this point I have an 11.1 and I'm about to retake the HESI so we shall see what is in store for me. I'm done with all my pre-reqs for my BSN and I'm so ready to start the next phase of my education and get on with more taking care of people! It's been 25 years since I decided I wanted to be a nurse. Twenty years of raising my kids, taking care of soldiers' families and single soldiers and eight years of riding in an ambulance later, I'm ready to follow my dream! Watch me go!
Did you have to have a permission number? I've already taken it but made a C. I feel that it is very important so I want to take it again. I have been chosen as an alternate for North Harris and Kingwood for the January start.
There is one online class that didn't require a permission number. If you call VA in the nursing dept at Kingwood. She is very helpful. I can't list it here for you. :-(
lth1123 has a point as well. If you've already passed it, you may be better served to review your notes on your own and ensure you know the information because it will come up again. Unless you have no other classes and only need to bring up your GPA, taking it over might just add unneeded stress to your load.

I agree pharm is important. However, instead of taking it over review before you get into the program because that information does come back up.
I know I am so ready to apply. But first I've got to take sociology the first 8 weeks and tackle the HESI. I don't care what campus I get in just as long as I get in! Lol! So on the HESI do you just print the test ticket for the campus you want to test at then just show up during testing hours or do you have to schedule the time with the school?
For the HESI yes, print out the ticket to take to the business office of the campus you choose to take the exam at. Visit the HESI page for your campus for instructions and read the ticket too for dates and times. I know Kingwood wants you to make an appointment for their testing which you can make online. NH I just walked in at 9 A.M. and took it after visiting the business office. I definitely suggest getting the study guide for it, you will be glad you did!
It may be too early to ask but does anyone know cutoff scores for the various campuses for last app period? I think I heard that NH was 10.3 last time, I'm not sure about the others but it would be nice info to have if anyone knows. I plan on calling them at some point to ask but getting through isn't always easy and I have loud preschoolers who love to climb on me when I pick up the phone to use it!
Yay! Go you! I'm so glad I took Micro last year. I bet that was rough taking it with Pharm, glad it's over for you. I try not to be a glutton for punishment but I hope I can pull off Pharm and Ethics in the spring, I hear ethics is a pain. Now go relax and enjoy your break! Soon enough we'll be sitting on pins and needles waiting for those acceptance letters!
Hello everyone! I am also a Fall 2014 hopeful! I have yet to take the HESI (going on the 2nd). That's the only thing left I need to do. I'm so nervous to apply, and after I get accepedt I know I'll be nervous to get started but its time to face the music because the only pre OR co reqs I have left is A&P II and Pharm which I will be taking in the Spring
Yay good for you! Getting that HESI out of the way will be a big relief. Don't be nervous it really isn't as daunting as it seems. Just study, take your time and don't forget to breathe! I have to admit to having a few butterflies in my stomach as well though, I have to go retake it in January as I missed the minimum math score by one point. You'll be great! Keep us posted! What campus/es are you applying to?
