Lonestar Fall 2013 hopefuls

U.S.A. Texas

Hi everyone!

I just submitted my application for the Fall 2013 Lonestar College basic track ADN program. LSC-Montgomery is my first choice, followed by LSC-North Harris, and LSC-Tomball.

I applied with an 11.81. Has anyone else out there applied, or are you preparing to apply?

Looking forward to starting a supportive and informative Lonestar thread, as applicants have the past few years

Sorry about that. I hadn't tried the code yet. Figures though. I think pharmaceutical and textbook companies are owned by the same person. You never get a decent discount.

Love your new pic!!!!

Love your new pic!!!!

Thanks! I assume no word yet from MC? Are you still #8 on the list? I hope you hear something within the next couple of weeks. Classes haven't filled up yet, so I think you still have a pretty good chance getting into MC.

I tried as well and it wouldn't let me apply the promotional code, if you go back and read it has a disclaimer about how it doesn't cover some of the nursing books, so maybe that's why it wont work!? No clue really! I just went on amazon today to check and you can get both summer books for about $85 each! So I just might do that instead, because i went to the school today and they don't have those books in stock until maybe next week! I need to get on top of this summer reading asap!!

Did u go to MoCo book store? Ive just been there at 3pm, and they have those ! That said they just got those!

And now I tried to use promo code for medical book and it works. So I guess our nursing books are exception of discount :(

Maybe I'll buy those at amazon...

Lol of course, I was there this morning must of just missed it.. oh welI I already purchased mine on Amazon

I believe I am #7 now that addismama got in. Also, a girl at orientation is on the alternate list and said she would not be accepting if they offered her a spot so maybe I'm even #6 now..

Ok, so because I don't have a life, I figured out that we have 350 pages of reading to do from the 26 Chapters (we don't have to read Chapter 8: Caring for the Cancer Survivor, but I am since it's just 7 pages). At any rate, If we took 10 weeks to read 350 pages, then that would be 5 pages per day, or 7 pages if you want two days off per week. (Grin) I recommend taking notes and just reviewing them everyday for a few minutes after taking that days notes, if that makes sense. Very doable. By the time the 26th of August rolls around we will be set. We're are gonna be such an AWESOME RN class!

Oh, one other thing. If there was one textbook that was the bane of everyones existence at NH, it was Ackley's Nursing Diagnosis text, which is required for MC too. I recommend, reading over the introduction to get a feel of what a nursing diagnosis is, or if you can't afford the text right now, then check out Welcome to NANDA International - Defining the Knowledge of Nursing, as this is the organization that decides what a nursing diagnosis is and they change them periodically, I think the field will be moving away from these in the future and care plans too as I understand it, but we still need to know it apparently. It's different from a regular diagnosis that a MD would make. Just my two cents.

That's awesome Kevann! I wonder why she wouldn't just tell them now, so the next alternate in line would know, and can be ready? Sorry, soap box.

The other **** actually asked her to call and let them know so they could go on to next alternate. Soooooo....I went and have my MMR shot yesterday and submitted it and now its saying i have to get a second mumps shot. Is that right? I was under the impression the MMR was only 1 shot..

MMR is a series of 2 shots one month apart I believe. I'm going this afternoon to check my results on my titers, fingers crossed!

Good luck girl! Hope you have better luck that me!
