Lonestar Fall 2013 hopefuls

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi everyone!

I just submitted my application for the Fall 2013 Lonestar College basic track ADN program. LSC-Montgomery is my first choice, followed by LSC-North Harris, and LSC-Tomball.

I applied with an 11.81. Has anyone else out there applied, or are you preparing to apply?

Looking forward to starting a supportive and informative Lonestar thread, as applicants have the past few years

Yes I got the same email.. I'm waiting till the end of the week to purchase books they said financial aid should kick in by the 23rd.. Would be awesome not to have to pay for books!

Right?! Free books. I am going to try and get away with most of my NH RN textbooks. I was able to correspond chapters from the Fundamentals text by Potter with the one NH uses (Taylor), which both have the same publisher. It's pretty much basic nursing stuff, but if a professor calls me out on it or my grades plummet then I'll have to break and buy it.

Good idea, hopefully it works!! BTW did you ever hear back from ***************about the insurances and if we definitely needed to purchase summer insurance!? I emailed her Friday and still haven't heard back!

Hey guys! Hope everything is going well and you're getting more things crossed off your list. Brian, have you looked lately to see if all classes were registered for? Wondering how many people are still waiting to hear from other schools. Congratulations to addismama on getting into Montgomery off the alternate list today! You go girl!

Class sections are still open except for the last two weeks of summer but those filled up fast initially anyway. The Wed and Thu clinical sites were both open at Conroe Med Ctr, but closed still at St Luke's & MH. I think you'll be ok, you're #7 now, or #6? I kinda felt like there were several people at orientation who may not make the deadline before June 28th. I'm still thinking you're gonna get in so you can say good-bye to the dental industry. (Grin)

June 28th is the deadline for what???

Okay. I am thinking that I will wait to buy the access code cuz my summer course is since 7/31, so I will be fine. Another thing I'm thinking about is whether I'll buy ebook or not... Ebook is cheaper and convenient which im always with my iPad. Concern is the e reader. The reviews are pretty bad lol I'm now using kindle for my government class and i love it... What do u all think about it? Elsevier one is vital source bookshelf.

Sorry aruru for the late reply. I think it just depends on your preference. I tried to use VitalSource/PageBurst with my iPad and really liked the cross-referencing and note taking capabilities, but it was a strain on my eyes because of the amount of time I spent reading for pathophysiology and pharmacology. There was one gal at NH RN program who used her iPad for EVERYTHING, had all of her textbooks, notes, etc. on it. Then one day we came in for an exam, and she couldn't find some notes or the app wouldn't load properly. I felt really bad, but it was enough for me to continue to stay old school, buy textbooks and take notes longhand. If they're discounting the eBooks now then that's awesome. I saved like ten dollars total for my two VitalSource textbooks...not really that much, and in the end bought the physical textbooks too because of the eye train. Go with what works best for you. You'll have an advantage if you are searching for a certain topic because it'll pull it from all sources, which is really awesome. I hope this helps!

June 28th is the deadline for what???

I though I saw brilaneb post that 28-June was the deadline for all medical documents, forms, etc. to be uploaded and completed, so I am taking that as the final day to have everything completed since the earliest two summer sections are the only ones open now with the first section starting 1-July. I kind of gathered from orientation that everything had to be complete before the summer class starts. I can't see the actual date because I was accepted to the Moco LVN program and started the Background Profile website process back in March, so I had everything completed a couple months ago. Except for health insurance in which I am going to send an email right now.

Congrats Shari!!

Thanks!
