Lonestar 2011 ADN Hopefuls

Published

I didn't see a thread on here for Fall 2011 applicants to the Lonestar nursing program, so I decided to start one.:) I will be applying to Montgomery as my first choice and am really nervous about taking the HESI test with all of the added components. I applied to Kingwood this past application period with an 11.5652 and got an alternate spot, competition was fierce. So, here I go again, hopefully I'll get in this time around. I'm really nervous about the A&P portion of the HESI. I feel like I've forgotten alot of what I learned. Any suggestions from anyone?

Good luck to all applying:)

So how does this background check thing works... I just paid like 45 dollars and I picked a place to go and do they do the fingerprints and background check there, I am confused I hope I didnt do anything wrong...

I just did it this morning....Just show your license, they take your picture, and then scan your fingerprints on a computer (not an inkpad)....all together and one at a time. I was only in there about 15 min or so. I asked what the picture was for and she said nothing unless I one day rob a bank or something and then it will become my mugshot! lol

Hope it was a cute pic then! Lol!

:D

Jamielyn--I'm almost 100% sure it's aha approved because i am currently certified through tri-county for work but only for heartsaver CPR/first aid. just looked at my card and it is aha. so i have to take the healthcare provider one now also--that class is $25 and at the loop, i will private message you the training coordinators' email addresses/names after i clear it with them if you want me to...someone go with me i hate going places by myself haha!!

I'm interested in going, but I can't go during the time you posted :( Where can I get the info on the dates/times for their CPR /first aid classes so I can sign up? Any info is MUCH appreciated!!

Peyton12, Thanks I'm going in the morning

Katygal, too funny...

For those of you that are on the wait list or did not get accepted, Do NOT be discouraged, go for your BSN. I didn't get accepted to Lonestar NH about a year ago and just got accepted to PVAMU Fall 2011 for my BSN on my first try. Some Nursing schools do not go based off your GPA but how well you do on your entrance exam and first come first serve basis. Just think about it this way, you won't have to go back to school to earn higher pay. Good Luck to everyone and Congrats to everyone who got accepted. :yeah:

Okay guys I just sent a request on our facebook page...

You know I want to go with you T, but I want to wait until finals are over:heartbeat:heartbeat

Come on K!! Two hours on a Friday afternoon...then Happy Hour haha!! No, I totally understand since that is literally the last weekday before FINALS WEEK!!

trb1226 would you send me the info too for the one on the loop... I am DEFINATELY interested... i am right around the corner from there

Katlady--I don't really have any info other than for the date I signed up for, but I just emailed one of the training coordinators to see if she could email me the calendars for the next 3 months and asked if it was ok that I distribute them. They recently started offering classes to the public, so I'm not sure exactly what the protocol is for signing up if you don't work there, but as soon as she gets back with me, I will let you guys know. Also asked her for some contact info for those that are interested :) BTW I am officially IN now!! Still no letter, but finally broke down and called, so now we can schedule carpooling haha!! If only we knew our schedules!

trb1226 and lapwill

I will suggest that both of you got to the nursing dept at NH. I applied to NH as my first choice with an 11.64 and I never got a letter so I called them and they told me I was accepted and she said she was going to mail another letter, but I refused and told her that I will drive up there to pick up the letter. I just picked up my letter today so I suggest you both do the same.

Thank you Chikzy, after checking my mail AGAIN to find nothing, I did break down and call them, and I'm official!! Whooo hooo!! She did say she would mail me another letter, but I will probably still go down there sometime next week if I don't get anything before Monday because all the orientation spots are going to be taken!! Plus, I'm way behind in knowing about all the background/fingerprinting stuff. I know there's info on the website, but I need specific instructions (ADHD haha!!)

What a weight lifted!! Now I don't feel like a fraud anymore!!

Peyton-- I just emailed the training coordinators at Tri County to see what the protocol is as far as the public goes, since they just recently started having open classes. I will let you know as soon as I hear anything. I didn't even know about it until Spring Break, I just happened to be there for a work related training and saw a flyer that some are public and figured it was a good deal, and a good excuse to leave work early on a Friday ;)

Still no mail today, but stress was getting to me so I decided to call, and I'm IN!!! Yay!! Not a hopeful anymore! Have any of you Cy-Fair applicants been receiving mail yet, it seems quiet on that side of the world hehe! Hope everyone gets good news!

No mail yet on Cy-fair. I'm thinking either tomorrow or Saturday. I'd be freaking out if it wasn't for the fact that no other Cy fair person seems to have gotten their letters. But with an 11.75 I'm pretty sure I got in lol ;)
