I didn't see a thread on here for Fall 2011 applicants to the Lonestar nursing program, so I decided to start one.:) I will be applying to Montgomery as my first choice and am really nervous about taking the HESI test with all of the added components. I applied to Kingwood this past application period with an 11.5652 and got an alternate spot, competition was fierce. So, here I go again, hopefully I'll get in this time around. I'm really nervous about the A&P portion of the HESI. I feel like I've forgotten alot of what I learned. Any suggestions from anyone?
Good luck to all applying:)
Still no letter over here in Conroe!! I hope that someone decides to go to another orientation besides the one on June 8th because by the time I finally get some kind of confirmation that one will probably be full On another note, Tri-County Services (Formerly MHMR) now offers their CPR, First Aid, and verbal/physical deescalation programs to the general public. They have two types of CPR so although I am certified through them for my work (I am a contractor at a day program for adults with disabilities) I have to take the one for the Healthcare Professioinals
It's 2 hours for $25, and they usually have classes twice a month. I am taking it on May 6 from 2:30-4:30 (Friday) if anyone wants to join that's in the Conroe area! Now come on letter!! And thanks for all of the encouragement...I am really surprised every day that I go to the mailbox and it's not there. I got a letter from Austin today that was postmarked the 28th, and I heard the NH letters are postmarked the 25th so that's even more stressful aighhh!
I could not find info at the MHMR one but I did find the course given at MCHD http://www.mchd-tx.org/public_education/public_education.cfm It's only $45! I will contact both places tomorrow to make sure they are AHA approved!
Well I thought I would just take it at Lonestar NH or Montg, but I just looked it up and it's $86. Geez, the $ amounts for the program are adding up fast starting with the acceptance letter and $45 for the fingerprint scan. I'll have to go back and read the thread from last year because someone posted the total amount they paid for their 1st semester
No I have not got my letter yet..still waiting:confused:
me too lapwill!! Fingers crossed for tomorrow (Thurs)! not so much crossing them for me, but they're going to need to be busy so i dont strangle the postlady for keeping me waiting!! haha no offense to anyone with friends/family/self in the USPS :smackingf

Jamielyn--I'm almost 100% sure it's aha approved because i am currently certified through tri-county for work but only for heartsaver CPR/first aid. just looked at my card and it is aha. so i have to take the healthcare provider one now also--that class is $25 and at the loop, i will private message you the training coordinators' email addresses/names after i clear it with them if you want me to...someone go with me i hate going places by myself haha!!

As far as I understand it from talking with the advisor about it, it is a CNA (Certified Nurses Aide) class but I think this particular class is just for us, as new Nursing admits. If you already have a CNA you are exempt form it. She said they would tell us all about it at orientation, so don't worry.
