Lone Star Tomball, LVN 2012 Hopefuls

U.S.A. Texas

Anyone out there applying to Lone Star Tomball LVN program? Any advice from past or present students?

I will be applying in late August/1st week of September and would love to chat with other hopefuls. :)

I did not receive any mail either. What is going on? We are approaching 2 weeks out of September when the website says that the letters would be mailed. I wish I knew what I should do already. Should I turn in my letter of intent to Cy-fair for the ADN or am I accepted at Tomball? At Cy-fair I am only an alternate and the feeling of unsuredness is unsettling.

Kalisefer: If you go ahead and accept your alternate position at Cy fair then after you finish your first year of the ADN program you can take the test for a LVN. This information may make a difference in your choice.

@gmarks, I am aware of the test at the end of the 1st year during the ADN program. My problem is that I am an alternate and it is not a for sure entrance into the ADN program. If I had a for sure acceptance to the LVN program I would accept and do the transition to RN at the end of the LNV program. I want a for sure answer, being on the alternate list just means that just in case someone does not qualify or want to enter the ADN program I might get a call, but I think I am the last one on the list and it does not feel so reassuring.

@mittens I emailed the nursing staff assistant last week and still have not received a reply. I did read on their website that letters will be mailed out about a month after the application period is closed. It closed on 09/15 so we do still have thru the end of this week for that month to end. Maybe this time next week we will receive our letters.

i emailed tommie byrd at tomball yesterday about the lvn letters and she said:

"no letters have been sent yet. we are hoping they will go out soon!"

That is the same person I emailed last week and did not receive a reply from. But watch and see her name will disappear from your post and it will turn in to ****** **** in the next couple of days.

Anonkah-thanks for the information.

Kalisefer- I would go ahead and accept the alternate position. You can always change your mind but at least its secured. You can see how Tomball turns out and still have a place in the RN if it opens up.

I have filled out the forms for Cy-fair and I am anticipating turning them in Friday afternoon. I am still waiting to hear from Tomball hoping it is a firm decision and not a spot as an alternate.

What does everyone's score look like? I think mine was 7.04

I had a 6.72 I think. I was a kingwood alternate last go around with a 6.3, I decided to give up that spot for someone more willing to drive that far everyday ( i live in old Katy hehe) Since my score was also a little lower for the kingwood application, so i figured i'd give it another go with a little higher score.

I emailed the woman today and she replied the reply: "The letters will be sent out very soon." Her email made me laugh as I thought about it. How many times a day do you think she has to send out that same answer, do you think she just has it copied to her clip board and just pastes it into the next email asking about the notifications?

@mittens I turned in all my paperwork to Cy-fair today except the proof of insurance which I can give to them next week. The lady was really nice and told me not to give up just because I am an alternate. I told her I had no intentions of doing so and that I was actually hoping someone else decided to go some where else or sad to say, does not turn in their paperwork on time and opens up a spot for me or another alternate. Her reply was that is likely to happen and she smiled.

"very soon". What is keeping them from sending them out? Seriously, if the other campuses can get theirs out, they can too. Moving or not. Get in the game Tomball!
