Lone Star Spring 2011

Published

Okay, for all of us that did not get into the Lone Star Fall 2010 program and are trying again for the Spring...here we go again.

I'm retaking AP2 this summer (I have a B so now I want an A) to increase my points. After that I just don't know what else to do because I have all co-reqs completed, CPR done and Immunizations done. What are your plans to increase your chances of getting in for the Spring?

franksl482, you should be fine. If the cutoff is 11.6 you are good! I know all the 'what ifs' can really get you down. Sounds like you have a plan even if it does not work out in your favor. I keep thinking did I make the right decision when I gave up my spot in the lvn program this August to wait on a letter in October. With the current knowledge of letters being mailed so soon; my heart is beating out of my chest with anticipation...I need a Caramel Frapp from Starbucks right now.

Im sure you will get in with your score!!! I would be so nervous if I gave up my spot in the LVN program, its almost like playing Russian Roulette, but Im positive you made the right choice. The Caramel Frapp sounds so good right now. I am trying to find anything and everything to get my mind off the mail.

Ikr about giving up my spot. I did not think it would be fair to take the spot. I based my decision on the fact that I only needed one credit to be in the 4point range for the credit hour section of the score card. I know I put all my eggs in one basket so with total faith I stepped out and took a chance. You know the funny thing is I applied for the lvn program with CyFair as my first choice and because my score was 7.206 I got into Kingwood's lvn program. I wonder if our first choice for the RN program will be irrelevant and we will be placed according to our scores. Why am I doing this to myself? I really need to calm down and relax. Let's all relax...whoooo saaaaaa.

my heart is beating out of my chest with anticipation....

I know.......people tell me I shouldnt be nervous, but I am. It's like I have to have my little slip of paper before

I can proceed with anything(whether that be starting to buy supplies for nursing school, or looking to Plan B). Waiting is like being in Limbo.

I know how you feel ammmyjjjj, I just want to know if I am moving to Houston or not.... I just hate being in Limbo. I feel so panicky today, my boyfriend keeps telling me that I am fine and he is sure that I got in. My response to him was "You said that last semester when I applied here in Austin, you dont know anything" lol. He told me Im being mean and hateful but I think Im just being a nervous nelly lol.

Does anyone think they will get there letter tomorrow if they did mail the letters out today?

I've heard that in the past the denial letters are sent out first. Usually the people that did not get in know before the accepted students. Still no word on Kingwood's website. Oh no, I am feeling the urge to check it again. brb

I heard that too from looking at previous allnurses.com forums, but the lady at Cyfair told me when I applied that the acceptance letters will be sent first and then the denial letters would be sent out second. I don't know which one is right, I just want the letter to come either which way because the anticipation is killing me.

If they actually made it to the post office today, I should get mine tommorrow(assuming I'm in the first group).

I'm basing that on the fact that I received my financial aid refund last Sat and they went out last Fri. If not, Mon for sure. I live fairly close.....I will post as soon as it's received!

When I spoke to the woman who signs the letters (last app period) she told me they place you according to your first choice. Then, when those slots are filled, they will see if there is room in your second choice.

Well when I asked CyFair why I got my second choice versus my first choice; I was told it was because of my score. I was also told if my score had been higher 7.5 then I would have received conditional acceptance with CyFair. I believe it depends on the specific situation so its cool.

Well it's Saturday, I have been watching the mail box like a hawk. I actually am thinking I'm going to have to mail something everyday until the letter gets here so I can watch the outgoing mail flag from the window. When it goes down the mail person came. That will limit the trips to the mail box anyway!

BUT... I bet it won't come til next week. UGGGH!! Tired of waiting...waiting....waiting...waiting....

Lol. I had to get out of the house and go do smething. A watched pot never boils. So...my daugter an I are going out for mani pedis and hopefully there wil be a surprise in the box when I get home!
