Lone Star Spring 2020 ADN

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

From reading everyone that got into Lone Star nursing programs I hypothesized one very important point. Correct me if I'm wrong but if you get anything less than A's in English and A&P there is NO chance of admission.

The only instance I calculated a chance is a "B" in English, an "A" in A&P and a perfect 100% on the HESI. Other than that, A's in your classes with a minimum 88% on the exam is my observed formula for entrance.

I see why so many (myself included) get so worked up about the HESI. Anyone else taking the test next week at a Lone Star?

If anyone has taken A&P at a Lone Star over a summer session, how did you find attaining an A over the six-week period? Also, if anyone wants to part with a lab book...(?)

I got accepted into the LVN program. But I really want to get into Kingwood. Each one has its own pros and cons but I really do not know what to do. What do you all think?

Are you asking if you should go LVN or ADN?

Yes

Applied during the fall and got denied with around a 7.1. Had a B in English which I retook this summer and turned it into an A. So now I'm applying to the spring with a 7.6. It's crazy how competitive the program got all of a sudden. Now I have good reason to be scared I won't get in (again) with this new score knowing that the spring selection is so small.

I can't say definitively but a 7.6 would get in for Spring. I'd go so far as to say anything north of 7.5 gets the nod.

I think you may be correct but if we see a crazy surge in applications like the Fall did then 7.6 could be the cutoff which sounds really crazy. It's a long time till August...

Since I have completed my HESI A2 I'm done with my Elsevier book. Anyone nearby want it to use let me know (btw I'm in NW area). I also have a slim guide I made that I have as a pdf (and one printed copy).

When you take the HESI a 2nd time, how does it differ from the first? I heard there’s two versions.

Sucks that you cant take it twice & send whichever score is higher. Have slightly under a 90 on my first attempt, trying to decide if its worth the risk of trying to get a slightly higher score. I do slightly worse and my chances for this upcoming program are done lol smh.

What is your overall score?

Well before I answer that, how does the point system work for the grades received in a class? Like does your score differentiate based on an A, A- & A+?

No, an A is an A. Here's the score sheet that describes the scoring. http://www.lonestar.edu/multimedia/basic_track_scoring_sheet_for_admission.pdf

If all A’s give you the same score, then my total score will be 7.52
