Lone Star Spring 2020 ADN

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

From reading everyone that got into Lone Star nursing programs I hypothesized one very important point. Correct me if I'm wrong but if you get anything less than A's in English and A&P there is NO chance of admission.

The only instance I calculated a chance is a "B" in English, an "A" in A&P and a perfect 100% on the HESI. Other than that, A's in your classes with a minimum 88% on the exam is my observed formula for entrance.

I see why so many (myself included) get so worked up about the HESI. Anyone else taking the test next week at a Lone Star?

If anyone has taken A&P at a Lone Star over a summer session, how did you find attaining an A over the six-week period? Also, if anyone wants to part with a lab book...(?)

I'll be applying this round to Kingwood and CyFair with a 7.6 . Hoping it's enough to get me in because I do not want to take the HESI again.

I dont blame you lol. I’m around that score too, and I dont really want to take it again & risk doing even slightly worse.

I know 7.6 is a good score. I'm just concerned with how competitive it was this last round and there are fewer spots for the Spring start.

Hello! My name is Maya and I plan to apply for the Spring 2020 ADN program. I've been following this page for a little while and in honor of the application period coming up, I figured I may as well introduce myself. My score is 7.632 and I hope that is enough to get in, but this program is so competitive with very limited spots so I have no idea of my chances. I applied for the Fall LVN but if I'm being honest, BSN RN is my ultimate goal. I don't really want to do the LVN program, especially if I have a chance of getting into the ADN. I also plan to apply to SHSU because if I have a chance to get my bachelor's then I would definitely take it. Good luck to everyone here!

Welcome and good luck to you as well. I don't think you'll have an issue getting in. In either Cy-Fair or Kingwood you are good.

Is anyone taking pharmacology this summer!?

I wish.. Still stuck on Fall. I'm focused on A&P 1. Application deadline is 08/01. The listed end date for the class is 07/25. That is cutting it close. The instructor has to be diligent in posting grades. Seeing as she has yet to post a syllabus for any of her summer classes and they start tomorrow..

Yup I’m retaking English this first session of the summer to boost my score, I NEED AN A! And I’m also taking pharm just to get it out the way! But either of the classes are open or up online right now!

I hear ya. It seems easier to get in English as opposed to A&P. But when you need something who's to say which is harder? I seriously need that A, there is no Plan B. I did good getting the HESI out of the way and now I can focus SOLELY on A&P. I am taking Pharm in the Fall for this very reason.

Seems like you have a good plan! And i definitely understand where you are coming from! I’ll probably put a little more energy into the English class because i need that A if i dont get in this cycle and as long as i pass pharm with a B I’ll be okay with that!

I am going to be supremely pissed if I don't get in for Spring. And with Cy-Fair being continuous I was looking forward to graduating in May 2021. Sure getting in for Fall 2020 wouldn't be bad but that also would possible require a retake of A&P. I'm not looking forward to spending unnecessary money. It's the ONLY way because even a perfect score on that HESI with a B in A&P gets me only 7.42 points. Right now I somewhat control my own outcome. So I've decided to isolate the one class and throw everything I have into it.

I'll take that A and the 7.58 now over a B and 7.42 (rolling the dice) for Fall.

I agree! You are putting everything in for the spring semester! I’m currently sitting btw fall and spring semester so i have to put myself in the best position for both! If i get in now pharm is out the way and that one less class to take! If i don’t the English class with an A will bump my score to 7.7/7.8

Seems crazy to be nervous with a 7.58 but I get it. I've got a 7.6 and I'm nervous. If this last round of applications wouldn't have been so crazy I would be a little more relaxed but I won't relax until August.
