Lone Star Spring 2020 ADN

Published

From reading everyone that got into Lone Star nursing programs I hypothesized one very important point. Correct me if I'm wrong but if you get anything less than A's in English and A&P there is NO chance of admission.

The only instance I calculated a chance is a "B" in English, an "A" in A&P and a perfect 100% on the HESI. Other than that, A's in your classes with a minimum 88% on the exam is my observed formula for entrance.

I see why so many (myself included) get so worked up about the HESI. Anyone else taking the test next week at a Lone Star?

If anyone has taken A&P at a Lone Star over a summer session, how did you find attaining an A over the six-week period? Also, if anyone wants to part with a lab book...(?)

If all A’s give you the same score, then my total score will be 7.52

That's a good score. If I remember, the Fall cutoff for a 7.37 but I may be a bit off. I'd probably let it ride with that and not risk a lower score.

Hey guys, I took A&P 1 at HCC so the lecture and lab is split up. I received an A in lecture and a B in lab. Would this show as a B overall for the class at lonestar? Sorry, I can't seem to get anyone on the phone to answer this, they kept telling me I have to drive up there but haven't had the time. It's a 3 credit lecture; 1 credit lab. If anyone has any info, I really appreciate it =]

So for most schools the lab section is only going to be worth a certain percentage of your overall grade. For example, mine is 75% lecture and 25% lab. So depending on how high or low of an A/B you get in each section, that will determine the overall score based on that 75/25 percentage rule. Your specific school/class may be 70% lecture, and 30% lab. You have to find that part out first.

hey guys! so glad I found a thread for spring 2020! I applied last application round and got denied but since then I've retaken a class for an A. My score is now a 7.55... really debating about taking the hesi again... Not really looking forward to it but from reading yalls post and seeing how competitive the last application round was I'm not as confident in my score as I thought. :/ anyone else in the same boat? does anyone know kingwood's cut off from last year?

Hi, so I was accepted last spring with a score of 7.552 at kingwood as my first choice. unfortunately I didn’t pass the lecture class so I am now reapplying with the same score since I took the hesi in August of last year. It is SUPER competitive I think the cut off last year was 7.54 or 7.4 I can’t remember. But if you are an alternate don’t take it to hard. A lot of people don’t attend mandatory meetings and relinquish their spots. I would start saving money now for you book because those are $1500 just for ebooks and an extra $50 for each paper copy you want. Good luck to you all!

I would also start thinking about whether you want night class or day class and if you want clinical on Saturday

You were accepted and reapplying? I'm confused. It's early and I'm not young. If that cutoff was 7.54 you cut it pretty close there. Books are really that much? I hear you buy 90% of your books first semester and got through them over the whole program.

Yes in the comment above I stated that I didnt keep the test average of 75 in my lecture class so I have to reapply and retake it. I don’t remember exactly what the cut off was but it was one of those two. You do buy all your books upfront so it’s is pricey. Don’t say I didn’t warn you??‍♀️

At least you won't have to buy books again. I didn't know you can decide between day and night class. Does CyFair do that as well I wonder?
