Lone Star Spring 2020 ADN

Published

From reading everyone that got into Lone Star nursing programs I hypothesized one very important point. Correct me if I'm wrong but if you get anything less than A's in English and A&P there is NO chance of admission.

The only instance I calculated a chance is a "B" in English, an "A" in A&P and a perfect 100% on the HESI. Other than that, A's in your classes with a minimum 88% on the exam is my observed formula for entrance.

I see why so many (myself included) get so worked up about the HESI. Anyone else taking the test next week at a Lone Star?

If anyone has taken A&P at a Lone Star over a summer session, how did you find attaining an A over the six-week period? Also, if anyone wants to part with a lab book...(?)

If you guys are looking to get your immunizations done you can go to Avenue 360 health and wellness. If you don’t have insurance Depending on your income and household size you can get them all for $35

So I am a little confused about the titers and immunizations. I had my MMR series when I was a baby so I went today and got my MMR titer in hopes that it is positive. If not do I just need to do a booster? For the varicella, I do not show that I got those immunizations when I was a baby, but I did get the chicken pox and I had shingles when I was pregnant so I went ahead and did that titer today. If that is positive, will they accept that even if I never got the shots? Please help?

You will upload your titer results in castle branch and they will determine if you need a booster. That is why they want numerical values. It says so in castle branch but you haven’t been able to log in so you wouldn’t know. Hope that helps. I too had chicken pox so I have no idea if they will say I need the vaccine or I need the booster or both. I also had my MMR as a baby. It’s just a wait and see after you upload the results.

Okay cool so castle branch will tell you if they accept it or not and if I need to do something else? Yea I haven't been able to do anything else its so frustrating.

Don’t worry you are ahead of the game because you can get your titers done. Those take awhile. Everything else will be easy to complete as they are docs to sign and upload and your physical which your pcp will complete and yes the forms for that is on castle branch as well as other forms

@Flowereri Hey did you ever hear back from one of the schools??

I heard that they drug test at orientation but does anyone know if they do random testing throughout or before clinicals? Im worried because I heard even if you have a prescription its not allowed.

At cyfair you’ll get tested before every clinical unless you are at Methodist I believe. And if you are on a prescription and you test positive all you do is show the prescription after they contact you

I seriously doubt they would kick someone out for being on prescription medication unless they are misusing them.
