Lone Star Kingwood 2010

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to start a new thread for kingwood/cyfair applicants. This is the moment I have been waiting for for 2 years! :nurse: I will be turning in my application when I return from vacation next week. My score is at 11.489 as of yesterday! I took the Hesi....again....yesterday :D and will be going on vacation Mon. I don't think my score has gone in yet either.

Anyway...I'm hoping that my score will be good enough for this time around. What was everyone elses score? I think the cut off the last couple years has been 11.4.

I have created this thread because I know that this site has been extremely helpful for me! And I want to return the favor for whoever else is applying or working towards applying! Also, in order for us to chat or whatever else while we are waiting soooo long for a letter! :banghead:

If ANYONE has any questions...just ask and I will try the best of my ability to answer it. I know quite a bit about this program, so I'm sure I can help in some way! :heartbeat

Everyone don't be discouraged. I had a score of 11.24 and I just re-took my HESI today and got a 91 on the reading section. I calculated that my score will be a 11.3596 and I wish I could have at least made the 11.4 mark. I hope I get in and if not I will have to re-apply in the Spring.

Anybody interested in Making above 90% in Hesi Reading?

What about how to make 100! I missed 4 on the test.

Congrats on your score. I am taking the HESI @ Kingwood on SEPT. 2, 2009. Can you please offer some advice. I have a few more days to study. I really need some advice approaching the reading comprehension passages. This will be my 3rd time taking this test. I feel more than discouraged. How about "down in the dumps". Again, congrats on your great score.

I'm not sure if you read this whole thread! But I posted my advice for that darn test! And I think that it really helped me....Just put it this way....I followed everything that I was ever told and it brought my score up 11 points! It really worked for me....I will post it again. This test is no joke and I just took it for my third time too! So don't feel discouraged...you can do it! Be positive and stay positive....that right there, being discouraged will def. not help when taking the test! Good Luck!

I was worried there for a minute that no one would reply. 11.6 is a great score and I'm sure you will get in!

As fot the Hesi test.....ok...here is some advice as I have taken this test 3 times! Do not read too slow and over analyze as nothing is hidden...all of your answers are going to be found right in the passages! This is the mistake I made two time in a row and wished that I would've found this site the first time I took the test. The passages are very short. There was only one relatively long one. You may look at this message and say....well I know how to read....but I thought the same...but it seems when people get in there and take it, they focus too much on what is being asked and try and find hidden messages because they don't want to mess it up. So....with that being said, I think everyone will do just fine!!! :yeah:The math part is basic 8th grade math... know how to tell military time and your conversions...oh and roman numerals. This part will not be counted when its time to apply. However, you do have to score at least a 70 on it. So if you are weak in math, I would definately look over some sample problems!

When I do eventually get in, I will be doing day classes. I really hope I was of some help!:D

...I took it again on the 7th and yes it was timed. I read somewhere a couple weeks ago (when I felt the same as you do now) some do's and don'ts that really helped when taking a test like this. On top of the list was, do not look at the clock, it is a distraction and takes you a few minutes to get back on track after you've done so. I used the blue hesi pre entrance book, which did help, but not much. If anything it helped me out on the math part. It covered mostly everything. What are you having problems with bc I am here to help. I actually just got home about an hour ago from helping someone for about 4 hrs with preparing for the reading part. I am not a genius, but have taken that darn thing 3 times and know exactly what to expect!

Here's what I posted before. Hopefully this will be of some help to you!

Hello future nurses...This morning at 10:00 @ Kingwood campus room SFA 205, I took the HESI exam for the third time and scored an 89.36% on the Reading comprehension and a 92% on the math which raised my score to an overall 11.5744%:yeah:I am soooo excited because I went in prepared and took the advice of Coulter630 who said "Do not read too slow and over analyze as nothing is hidden...all of your answers are going to be found right in the passages". I took my time and focused. God is so good! I will be turning in my application tomorrow morning @ Kingwood College. Again, Kuddos to everyone for your support. I am an example that "perservarence pays off". To all my future RN's..:nurse: May each and everyone of you have total success in your nusring careers.

DON'T GIVE UP..DON'T GIVE OUT....AND DON'T GIVE IN.

Congrats LJ2010 on your great score!!! All your hard work paid off :wink2: Good luck on entrance to the program and good luck to everyone applying for entrance to Lone Star 2010 program. I hope we all make it :D

Yes you did, and before that I said I made a 91.49 (and that is above 90%) that's why I said what about 100. It was a joke no need to get antsy about it.

Congrats, sorry I didn't respond sooner with advice. You will definitely get in with your score. I already work as a med. asst. and can't wait until I become a nurse. Hopefully all of the hard work will pay off.
