Lone Star Fall 2020

Published

It may be early but around this time, those applying to Fall 2020 are engulfed in an A&P course trying for the grades needed. Collaboration and early encouragement can only help. Fall seems to be the large cycle and a lot have had the same instructors. Some of us could even be sitting by each other in class and not know.

I know we cannot say who we are taking. I'm in A&P 1 at Tomball in a hybrid course. If I can be of any help I will do so. I have a study guide for A&P that's about 90 pages. In addition, I have a pdf of one of the books (I think it's Marieb).

Goodxluck in class everyone and hope to see you in nursing school in the Fall!

Thank you, and yes I feel i'm overthinking it way too much also. It's just that I don't want the application to get rejected again and then whoever reads it say..."This person can't even submit the right information and he want's us to let him in to be a nurse?"

I know it's completely far fetched lol but I just want to make sure I give them the right stuff lol.

Totally get it; the whole process is unnerving! But you got this; you did your part and you got a titer that shows your immunity so there shouldn’t be anymore issues.

I took the HESI exam.

85.80% is my overall

maths=78

reading=86

grammar =86

critical thinking=940

A&P=96

on my two classes 4.0

my score sheet calculated 7.42 Y'all think that's a good score. I don't want to retake the HESI. I took the HESI first time made a 96 on grammar and 960 on critical thinking but failed maths so retook it second which are those stats above but I can't retake the exam cos for my other scores. I can only take HESI twice plus I don't want to LOL I want to focus on the TEAS for sam Houston and my other classes

Good luck to you, I hope you get into a BSN program! Which Lone Star campus do you plan on applying to as a backup?

All the campus. Montginery first choice, Tomball second, cyfair 3rd and North harris last

I applied to all 4 of the LSC ADN programs last year with a score of 7.408 and they basically told me to take a flying leap. No alternate spot nothing. Don’t mean to be a Debby Downer but I would retake the HESI for a higher score. Good Luck. I’m retaking mine on the 24th of March. On a side note I did get a seat from an alternate spot for the LVN at Kingwood last year with that score.

I'm not retaking the HESI. Lonestar isn't my main goal anyways so if I don't get in with that school welp guess that's it then

Hi all! I had posted earlier on this thread ? I hope everyone is prepared, Nursing school is a lot of hard work, very demanding quite a few people failed out in my campus ☹️. It is non stop studying, for clinicals every week you have to do clinical logs and care plans, an evaluation (these 3 items takes hours to complete, basically this day for me I don’t count it to study for an exam), 50 weekly questions, a clinical project at the end of the semester (for us at least, I think Cyfair has more from what I heard), an exam every other week (8 exams per semester including the final), skills check off tests and a final exam for skills lab as well, as soon as you’re done with the first test you have to immediately start studying for the next because of the crunch time.

Clinicals are 8hrs long one day a week.

So far I have gotten B’s in my lecture class (which I am TOTALLY OK with this LOL, I also do work 27hrs a week which cuts down my studying and getting things done so I turn my assignments a couple of days earlier than due date). I have an A on skills lab class and clinical class. (3 grades are reported at the end of the semester taking into account you took micro, AP2, pharm, and your elective which I strongly suggest prior to starting).

We were embroidered olive green scrubs, white scrub jackets and white shoes .stethoscope can be any color.

For the ones that don’t know I am in tomball’s ADN program 2nd semester and it’s great! I love my program so far!

Sorry for the long post but hopefully this helps prepare and gives you an idea. ? I love to help and can’t wait for our upcoming Tomball class to come in.

@AHopefulRNSomeday
Lowest score accepted last fall was a 7.376. And a 7.28 was called off of the alternates list. Of course it all depends on how many people decline the offer.

@Justina Benson

with your score I believe you are looking to be accepted into North Harris, Montgomery’s lowest last admit was a 7.6, Tomball 7.47 and Cyfair was in the 7.55 range. This also depends how many people apply as well, last year there were 599 applicants which is the most they’ve seen. I know Tomball in fall 2018 lowest was a 7.312 which in fall 2019 that number jumped as you can see. I would retake if you can help it if you really want to get into your first or 2nd choices. ? but keep in mind the take the most recent grade and not the highest for admission scores.

Hmmmm. Well it kind of makes me mad that I got a letter of denial if they accepted people with lower scores than mine.

Hi there!

I'm new to allnurses and after looking through older forums I'm a little concerned my scores are not high enough to be accepted into my first choice; Montgomery. The only reasons this is my first choice is 1) location and 2) childcare.

I wanted to take the HESI in January but had to reschedule and now I don't have enough time to retest.

I have A's in my prerequisites and I made a 92 cumulative on my HESI with a 970 in critical thinking.

My score according to my score card is 7.68.

Honestly, is this enough? It's so competitive!! I went to the nursing information session and they made it seem like a 95+ on the HESI is what you need to get into Montgomery. ?
