Lone Star Fall 2012 ADN Applicants

Published

I applied to Lone Star - ADN program Spring 2012. I was accepted as an alternate. I am hoping to get a call from the nursing department saying there is a spot for me. If not I will be reapplying for the next application period for entrance to the program in the Fall 2012. Good luck everyone!!!!

Amazing! Got my acceptance letter to Montgomery this afternoon! Woohoo!

congratulations to stephalump and knightgal. Happy Easter! At least somebunny got a surprise from the Easter bunny. Lol

Thanks, Kalisefer! I guess Moco is the only one who's sent out letters so far...let us know when you get yours!

Thanks, Stephalump, and congrats to you, too!

Unfortunately, I decided awhile back not to join Facebook. I'm trying to keep what little privacy I have left! ;-)

Still, look for me. If we're wearing name tags, I'll be Jules! ;)

I am confident I will get a letter of acceptance somewhere. Montgomery was my 4th choice and besides I have already received my blue card. Tomball, Cy-fair, and North Harris have not sent me a letter yet so I am most positive I will hear something by weekend. :-D

I got to thinking about this application period compared to the previous application periods you can read posts about on this website. In the past when there have been eligibility changes such as the A&P portion of the HESI was added as a test component to qualify in order to apply to the ADN program at Lone Star. During the application period following the change the number of applicants dropped because many applicants could not score above 75% on the A&P section of the HESI. This caused the cut-off to drop and applicants with scores in the low 10.? were accepted. I am wondering if this is the case this application period because applicants now have to have MATH 0310 complete. I will tell you from my experience, I am terrible at graphing linear equations. I love the quadratic formula, but I know not everyone finds math an easy subject. I am thinking this application period the number of applicants has dropped because not everyone has completed MATH 0310, although there are many who have already completed MATH 1314 and some other MATH 13XX class. Here is hoping that the cut-off scores are low because there are not that many applicants this application period due to the MATH 0310 change and that everyone who applied gets in.

Yeah, I like that the bigger requirements cut down the applicant pool. Before basically everyone could apply so then you basically had to have a perfect score, but now it looks like fewer people means your score is a little less important. I only got an 80% on the A&P section...a couple more questions missed and my points wouldn't have helped me at all.

I hope the applicant pool is cut down! When I was applying for Nursing school in Fort Worth, you needed almost a perfect score on the TEAS and all A's to be accepted. Now that I live in Houston, it seems that there are a lot more prereqs and many more school options. Crossing my fingers and hoping I make it in this application period.

I called into North Harris today to ensure that the information on the delay of acceptance/rejection letter was correct, and it was. 16th of this month, they said. Is it horrible that I'm still stalking my mail person even though I know I won't get word? I'm terrified and excited at the same time!
