Lone Star Fall 2012 ADN Applicants

I applied to Lone Star - ADN program Spring 2012. I was accepted as an alternate. I am hoping to get a call from the nursing department saying there is a spot for me. If not I will be reapplying for the next application period for entrance to the program in the Fall 2012. Good luck everyone!!!!

Glad to hear that you were approved for the assistance. I have not had any problems with funding other than it is a very slow process. The school will work with you on getting your tuition paid and books bought. Keep your grades up and make sure you attend class, those are two important factors they look at as well.

Nooooo, I don't know WHAT I was thinking, but I thought the deadline to pay for summer was the end of this week and I was dropped from the only pharm class I could take! The only ones left will interfere with Basic Care, and the online class has already gone 2 students over. I may have to take it in the Fall, even though everyone told me not to.

Anyone else doing this, or am I the lone, crazy wolf.

And, thanks Kalisefer and KnightGal!! I'm so happy, I barely care about my pharm issue! A huge weight has definitely been lifted.

Boo! Well, you can always try to email the instructor and get permission to be added. I did a couple hours ago and she let me in. I'm the 3rd person over the limit, though, so I don't know how many people she's willing to take.

Assuming you had the same problem.

Tlcarter, I signed up for the first one but so many others did too ill just have to see what I get, also for those of looking for a pct job good luck!! Cuz its not easy everyone wants u to have experience, I am a CNA currently not working, I applied to dozens of positions at hospitals and didn't get hired because I had no experience then I went to work at a long-term care facility for three years, once again after that I applied to many hospitals I got a couple interviews but they all wanted me to have hospital experience not long-term-care also it is hard hard to find a part-time job as a CNA or PCT they either want PRN or full-time, which we all know is impossible in the nursing program, if anyone does find a part time pct or CNA job let me know, because in 4 years time I have never found one.

Thanks :). I actually applied for both of those, but not expecting anything out of it. They want phlebotomy and EKG experience and 2 years in a hospital. :/

I have to take it in the fall also. I am taking it at Tomball. I know it is crazy but I wasn't fast enough. :/

Guys, is there any way you can take it during the summer? I only ask because I took it in the spring semester, and there is a TON of reading. I wouldn't take it with any other courses unless absolutely necessary.

The only classes left go into the 2nd session and require on campus meeting, so it interferes with Basic Care.

But like I said, I was able to get into a closed online class in the 1st session by emailing and asking, so y'all can try that!

I signed up for the last class, but that's only because the BON was having trouble with my background check (apparently, I've washed my hands so much over the years of caregiving that I have nearly wiped out my fingerprints!), and if you don't have that blue card by the time the class starts, you can't take it. :(
