Lone Star Fall 2012 ADN Applicants

Published

I applied to Lone Star - ADN program Spring 2012. I was accepted as an alternate. I am hoping to get a call from the nursing department saying there is a spot for me. If not I will be reapplying for the next application period for entrance to the program in the Fall 2012. Good luck everyone!!!!

And would you believe that after I ran down to Montgomery with my tattered B.A. because they told me they wanted to see it...no one wanted to see it? All they would tell me is that they are tied up with that SAP stuff, and that I should hear something in 3-5 business days.

Oh, they also said, 'You won't qualify for a Pell grant,' to which I responded (trying to be civil), 'I don't WANT a Pell grant. I want a subsidized loan!' Sheesh!

Kalisefer, I actually thought about the working thing. I'm already a CNA, but I never worked. I hated working in LTCs and I couldn't find a job that didn't require experience except...at LTCs. Maybe my application will look better to hospitals once I'm actually a Student Nurse?

I'm super annoyed because I HAD a job offer at MD Anderson as a clinical research assistant...you have to be employed by them for 6 months to get tuition reimbursement, but that was 6 months ago! Silly me wanting to spend time with my kids instead. Argh.

How do you register for clinical locations? or add them to my cart anyway...I can't register yet.

Who all will be at orientation tomorrow??

Hey everyone! Wanted to invite you all to join the Montgomery ADN program Facebook page! It's listed as Lonestar MOCO nursing class of 2014!

Also, for everyone looking for a cheap CPR class, Cypress Creek EMS offer the course for $45. Someone had listed MCHD but they raised their price to $65. Call Lisa Robbins at 281-378-0800. They are held every Sat and Thur. They are also filling up fast!

Also, MCHD is great for anyone without insurance to get immunizations done. They still charge only $10. and it's a $5 discount for each vaccine added.

They do not offer titers. They refer to lab express. Their number is 936-441-2021. The Chicken Pox vaccine is $30 plus $10 draw fee. The MMR is $105. Might be better off just getting the vaccine again at those prices.

Wagreens does offer the physicals for $39. However no titers, and their vaccine prices are outrageous.

Rediclinics in HEB are decent for titer. $25 for chicken pox and $60 for MMR. But they charge an $89 admin fee.

Does mchd offer all the vaccines we need at such a low cost? What is their number? Is it the one listed above or was that for lab express?

Candie, MCHD definitely offers low cost vaccinations. That's where I've gone for all of mine. They are $10 each, unless you get more than one done at the same appointment. If that's the case, you only pay $5 for each additional vaccine. There number is 936-523-5020. :)

Oops. Just saw swweetipie posted the same thing. Nothing wrong with me. ;-)

That's ok you clarified it for me
