2017 Lone Star ADN Hopefuls

Published

Hi there!!!! So I have been reading the "Hopefuls" forums from previous years and decided that it is time to start our own. I believe that this is a great way to support each other and compare our HESI scores. So here we come, all of the Lone Star students who are planning on applying for the ADN program please share your scores. I am applying to Kingwood for the spring semester 2017. My HESI score is 7.45 and I am a little bit worried that this could be not enough. :sorry:

Did u have to reapply?

Hi, I was wondering if the first month of class if full time 5 days a week then it switches to 2 days and clinical? is there a power point or notes detailing the information at the orientation so we can use it for references, hence scrub colors, and where to get the malpractice/liability insurance?

Thank you

@paomich95 not me.... I'm still waiting

Did u have to reapply?

Yes I did, Had to do the whole shebang again... :/ It was not easier the 2nd time around I tell you.

Although the things I have completed on castle branch were ok to be forwarded, I think they are good for a year.

Hello guys!

Ok so I need some advice. I was accepted to UT health Science Center in Houston for their BSN program and I was also accepted to Lonestar's ADN program. MY only problem is that if I go to UT, I would have to drive around 50 miles to get to school and 50 miles to get home. That's 100 miles a day (not to mention the traffic). Also, it's a little expensive. The good thing is that it's a 15 month program and I would graduate with my BSN. Now, if I go to Lonestar, I know I would only graduate with my ADN, but it's closer to home, slower paced, and cheaper. I also heard that some hospitals help you pay for your BSN after you earned your ADN and work while obtaining it. Is this true? Any suggestions and advice would be helpful! Thanks!

I would love to be accepted at UTHEALTH! UTHEALTH would be my choice, a no Brainer.

Thats a tough one i think whichever is better for you transportation wise because u need a way back and forth to school and clinicals

I think ultimately it depends on your current situation with finance, time, and the route you want to take.

My end goal is to get a BSN also in nursing but is taking the ADN route then hopefully find a job while completing my bachelors. That saves me money, time and I can get some experience under my belt working in the meantime. (Although it's easier said then done)

Personally, if I didn't have to worry about financial stability (I have a daughter I have to take care of also) and have the opportunity like you did, I will go for UT Health. It is a great program. I know a fellow classmate that is attending the program there now. IT's quite competitive to get in and I am happy you got in! IT's a 15 month program so that will be shorter then the 2 year ADN at Lone star. You should calculate the cost difference and if it is around a couple of thousand then I would go for the UT health. I don't think you should let the distance alone hold you back. Everything takes sacrifice and determination.

That is my opinion. Whatever your choice is I wish you the best !

Thank you so much for your opinion!

I have been analyzing the pros and cons and I have decided I will go with UT Health.

I wish everyone the best of luck! :)

I have a silly question i was looking online and i see that there is a block curriculum and integrated curriculum but im not sure which one we will take at cy-fair and i dont see anything specifies it does anyone know the difference between them?

Block curriculum is organized according to content area i.e pedi, obs, surgical whereas integrated is ordered in increasing difficulty. Pretty sure cy-fair will be block!
