2017 Lone Star ADN Hopefuls

Published

Hi there!!!! So I have been reading the "Hopefuls" forums from previous years and decided that it is time to start our own. I believe that this is a great way to support each other and compare our HESI scores. So here we come, all of the Lone Star students who are planning on applying for the ADN program please share your scores. I am applying to Kingwood for the spring semester 2017. My HESI score is 7.45 and I am a little bit worried that this could be not enough. :sorry:

@NeshaRN I noticed that too. I really hope we get lucky!

Most RN to BSN programs are online now, but there is still a graduation ceremony and everything. Depends on where you go though too! Like if you live here in Houston and graduate from UT Arlington, some people might not want to drive all the way there just to go to graduation.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the application deadline was extended this year, so that may be why people heard back from the nursing department in September last year. But hopefully I am wrong and we do hear something this month.

No it wasn't extended this year. I remember bc i tried to apply on July 7th, 2 days after the application period started, bc i had just taken my hesi, but I was not happy with my total points. I was at 6.84 I think bc i had a C in English 1301. It was bc of that that I repeated that class during the summer to get an A which now puts me at 7.64. It was a summer 2 class so I had to make sure that I got my grade in before the deadline. Also the deadline for Spring 2016 was September 4th, ours was September 9th. So hopefully, that does not make much of a difference.

I also applied with a 6.7, but from what I hear I will have to retake a&p to even be considered :(

When I turned in my application a few weeks ago at kingwood, they said I would hear something two weeks from the deadline. So I'm hoping that's true!

I emailed the nursing department and just got a response. She said acceptance letters will go out 2-4 weeks after the deadline.

Did everybody take Nursing Pharmacology already?

I didn't and I've got email asking if I'm interested in taking the course.

Would it affect my chance of acceptance?

Yes, I have already taken it. I am not sure if it will affect your chance of acceptance.

I have not taken it.. I have not recieved an email too. When did recieve it?

I have not taken it either, and I have not received an email regarding taking any Pharmacology class.

It will not affect you. You will just have to take it on your first semester of the nursing program.
