Hi there!!!! So I have been reading the "Hopefuls" forums from previous years and decided that it is time to start our own. I believe that this is a great way to support each other and compare our HESI scores. So here we come, all of the Lone Star students who are planning on applying for the ADN program please share your scores. I am applying to Kingwood for the spring semester 2017. My HESI score is 7.45 and I am a little bit worried that this could be not enough.
Hey guys I am new to this thread. I applied to Cy Fair first choice Kingwood second. I have a 6.899 score. I am really bummed because that B in ENGL dropped me. If I would have re taken and gotten an A, which I could have. I would be at a 7.3. I really hate the score sheet. My school GPA is a 3.8 and I am in honors college. I just did not want to re take courses, because I did so with two already. I completely slacked off my freshman year when I went out of state. I own up to it. Re taken so many looks bad on your transcript. I have all pre reqs to go BSN but I did ADN to increase my chances. Prairie View won't even let you apply if you have retaken courses. Good luck to everyone. A lot of ppl on here have 7 point some so you guys are pretty much set. If you look on other threads.8-7.3 are about 95 percent in.
Welcome im new as well my score is a 7.1 so im hoping thats good enough to get me in u can always retake a course and reapply at lonestar so thats a good thing i dnt want to retake classes either i made an A in anatomy but i really hate english so a B was the best that i could do but i wish u good luck
CPR certification is around $35-45. Just Google CPR certification and go to the American Heart Association website and click on BLS. Then it should give you an option to find a classroom near you. They have lots all the time, and you can reserve your spot in a class online. Remember it has to be BLS and it has to be from an AHA certified instructor!
Course load is nothing like you've ever experienced before. The courses are integrated, meaning they all correlate with one another. If you fail one course, you cannot continue. You will have class twice a week. The time depends on if you chose day or night class. Day is 9:30AM-12:20PM and night is 5:30PM-8:30PM I believe. This will be two days a week back to back. Here you will have lecture. This is your main course. You learn everything here and get tested on the material you learn. Each unit has its own exam, roughly 8 exams total. Each exam requires about 200 pages or so to study. There are two weeks between exams. Also in lecture you have quizzes and questions to do for each unit, homework packets, etc.
Each week, you will have lab on one day. This is the same day as one of your lecture days. It can be before or after lecture if you are a night student. If you are a day student it's after class. This is where you learn skills for clinical. There is usually weekly skills learned every week and you'll have quizzes, check-offs (instructors watch you do the skill), and then you get to perform the skill in clinical. Lab is usually 2-3 hours.
Clinical is one a week, 6:30AM-4:30PM. This is the fun stuff. First semester your skills are limited so it's a lot of observing with your nurse. You can't do much but it's still exciting and crucial for you to develop some basic understandings of what a nurse does. You will have clinical paperwork, clinical quizzes, and assignments with patients scattered throughout the semester.
So as you can see, finding time to study is tough. After clinical you are in a coma, and after class your brain is so fried all you want is Chick-fil-a. You will HAVE to be organized to succeed. If you miss a due date you can't turn in a late assignment. Everything is so fast. You turn in one assignment and you have 50 left. But once you get adjusted you will feel fine. It's very overwhelming to begin. And don't get me started on the lecture exams...
