Has anyone applied for Loma Linda's new grad program? I heard its starting next month but I have no idea if they even started interviewing people. I keep calling but no one is giving me an answer.

Hey guys, I just got a call from Loma Linda- She just asked if I would like to apply to my second choice, Intermediate care since my first choice, Acute care, already had way too many applicants and they are only taking LOCAL applicants for acute care to narrow it down. I hope to get an interview!! :)

What's the difference between intermediate care and acute care? Does that mean med/surg VS. ICU care?
Aw man, I'm not local

I just received the same email! So good to hear that my app is at least going to be looked at by the hiring manager!
According to the lady I spoke with, she said Intermediate care is like Acute, but "Spicier," lol. They get new diagnosis diabetes patients, sedation procedures, bronchoscopies, etc., and is just a step up from acute care with more nursing procedures. Sounds good to me!
And I got that generic email too :)

I actually made it to the generic e-mail phase! Which is farther than I have made it before. Take that generic rejection emails!

RNWannabeLA she called me too last week about changing from acute to intermediate - which is fine with me. I have experience in acute - but I guess TONS of people applied to acute. I got the generic email today also. So, if you did get the generic that's a good thing or does everyone get one?? I didn't know if HR cut the numbers before sending it onto managers.

I thought I would update everyone on what I learned from talking with HR today. I only resubmitted my documents last Friday and received a call today to see if I would be interested in switching my top choice. I was told they had already forwarded "hundreds" of applications to NICU, PICU and peds acute and that there were significantly fewer who applied to intermediate care and cardiac ICU. After talking to her for about 45mins about the program and the units that had more opportunity I decided cardiac ICU was the best fit for me. She did mention NICU probably had 4 openings and 2 were most likely already planned for who would get. Cardiac ICU and intermediate had 2 open postions each and I think she was going to forward around 60 applicants for the cardiac unit. Stickyrunner from my conversation it was clear no where near everyone was getting forwarded so Im pretty sure the email only went out to those who are going to get looked at by a manager. She also mentioned they began calls on Monday but had many more to make and some units had not begun she said to expect something very soon (wasnt more specific though lol). It also sounded like living close and having something tying you to peds definatley increased your odds of getting forwarded. Good Luck Everyone !

Yesterday the lady I spoke with told me that we should be getting calls for interviews between June 10-15! I got the "your application has been forwarded" email too!
