location doesnt come into it when you are coming here with OGP. we were told right at the beginning that you could choose the state that you were wanting to work in, but not the city or town.

then when we had our phase one immigration approval and they sent us out another packet, there came with it a map of the usa and it was divided into 7 zones, of which you then choose 3 in order of preference. so our first choice was the zone with florida, the carolinas and georgia in it, and lo and behold when my resume was sent out the first place that they sent it was arizona, and then I was asked if I wanted to come here. (which by the way isnt even on the map that they send you). so I interviewed for here and we have been here for 16 months. so dont bank on going where you choose.....I think that from most of the OGP nurses that I know and have seen on here, the majority dont go to where they chose, but also the majority are happy with where they have ended up, and after 18 months they can go to where they originally wanted to go if they then want to leave where they are at.

I know OGP nurses who have been sent to, boston, california, arizona, south and north carolina, arkansaw, and new york, but the nurse who went there already had her licence there.

I know exactly what you mean topscot, we are in the same boat as you, waiting for i140 and location really. i passed the NCLEX in june so we are on about the same time frame too. its really frustrating not knowing where you are going as if you knew you would at least be able to plan ahead

i got offerd a place in oakland, CA which i refused as it was their first offer, the cost of living is high, and like most others wanted florida/georgia/carolinas, then i got offered an interview for louisiana in a town which sounded like a hell hole, after the second offer i wish i had taken CA to be honest as im worried now about where i will end up!

i scan my emails every day in the hope that they have an offer for me but havnt heard much since, so here i am sitting and waiting again! god its frustrating sometimes its all i can think about and its driving me mad!

we have not been offered any interviews so far except the chance of one in louisianna which we turned down flat.we can handle the waiting but the not knowing where we are going to end up is a nightmare

the one in louisiana sounds like the place we were offered, i didnt want to turn it down just because of the bad press that has been aired over here, i did look into it further but unfortunately it appeared to be in a terrible town full of crime, even though we could have lived elsewhere and travelled into work my husband pointed out that even driving through there to get to work would be a bad idea.

it is the not knowing where that gets to you, maybe we will hear something soon.

Hello, I am new to this site and am a CNA in Oregon, USA. I am planning to move to Wales with my, soon to be, husband in a few months.

The area I live in here is not a large city and has only one hospital. They are desperate for good nurses and are about to be made a union hospital. There has been some bad politics between admin. and staff, but I do believe that will right itself once the union takes over. The hospital is building several new wings. I don't know if anyone is interested in the possibility of coming here, or even if your agency could arrange it, but look up the Roseburg, Oregon area on the net and find Mercy Hospital. If you are interested let me know I might be able to do a bit of research from this end for you.

That is the biggest issue that I have with OGP. They do not guarantee where they will place you, so a spouse cannot look for work, etc. until the last minute. I do not agree with this at all.

that is our biggest problem ,ogp made out at the initial interview you would get what ever state you want,but it seems actually you just get pot luck

I always knew that OGP could not guarentee a location in fact I asked so many questions they took me outside to ask if I was from a rival company :chuckle

OGP get you to the USA and for that priviledge you work for them for up to 20 months.

The wages are poorer than any other agency

The locations tend to be CA, AZ and Louisianna

You will work night duty nobody on agency gets the days.

I have just returned from Phoenix where I took it upon myself to visit the hospital and area of where OGP have placed me. They were not happy with this but it's my life and family, I am very glad i went for many reasons.

I met my night time supervisor who happens to be from Uk and also happens to be ex OGP. She said she would never return to UK and is very happy but it took over a year to be able to settle. She said be prepared to be poor for a while. She now earns shed loads 2 and half years after getting there. Siad to see OGP as a means to the end result GREEN CARD.

I have returned to UK armed with lots of info.
