i was just wondering how come it is so hard to get info for monroe lpn program? it is very expensive and it seems that the people over dont like to give info on the phone> anyone went through their program?
I've found a lot of information the program through this site, honestly. Did you send in your entrance exam fee? The deadline is tomorrow. I ordered Test Form J with to study for the exam. I've heard mixed reviews of the program but honestly, when you are determined and motivated there will be nothing stopping you. I'm undergoing a career change and looking forward to the change, whether I get into this program or not. In any case, I wish you the best of luck & please keep me posted on your progress through the process.

Also, got a bit of info from the company that runs the program:
i actually was accepted and i start jan 7th, i am so nervous because of the cost... i felt as if i couldn't let this oppertunity pass since it is so hard to get into their programs. when do you know if your accepted for the cheaper lpn program?? and when do they stop accepting applications?
hey there, can you tell me which exams are required? i just got off the phone with a rep. and the next program starts in sept 2009 which is sooooo far away.
PrincessSpyder,
Hi, I appologize for not replying earlier.... I have been swamped with work and school so forgive me. Okay, so don't let September date discourage you. It's better to start when you can and finish when you can. As long as you have a positive attitude you can't be stopped. Okay, with Monroe College from what I know your GPA really doesn't matter. What you do is take 2 tests and hope and pray you made a good enough score to be considered to interview. The two tests usually take place on a sat and sun for maybe 3 1/2 hrs each day. When I went there were atleast 75-100 people which discouraged me initially:no:. However, when you do make it to the interview process lie your behind off. Make it seem as if you have no distraction whatsoever(I did). Dont say anything that would make them feel as if you wouldn't be able to handle it. I must say so far I have had nothing but the most positive experiences I've ever had pertaining to school PERIOD!!! The school is very much involved directly with you as a person and seem to want you to do nothing but succeed. For example, to start the dean of the Nursing dept registered me for my classes(that's unheard of in many school, atleast to me knowledge). Okay, now once you start the program it can be very overwhelming, I'm still trying to stay afloat with working full time and a full time school schedule. Although, I'd taken a&p 1 and 2 they want you to take all science corses with them ONLY, which sucks. The workload is a lot and TIME MANAGMENT is a must!!!! No life and late library nights are in your near future:typing:typing:typing..... Its a small sacrafice for your future as far as I'm concerned. The teachers are great( there is always 1 that is
).. But 90% of them are there for you at all times. I love it so far.. I still have a ways to go but as of right now, I cant complain. I've seen and heard nothing good about Nursing programs in the tri state area so to be here and feel welcolmed, I feel I made the right choice. The tuition is really expensive but weighing my pro's and cons I am happy so far:yeah:. So, with this being said Good luck and I hope you pursue your dream of becoming a Nurse. It is a wonderful profession. If you have any questions send me a private message or re post abd I will answer as soon as I can. Again, good luck!!!! See you at Monroe soon:wink2:
I'm glad to read that you managed to attend.
I have less than 90 days till the RN is over! I'm telling you all that I cried and was stressed out during the LPN and the RN program but I promise you all that it's worth it. Becoming an LPN was the best thing that I could have done for myself and I'm expecting only better from the RN.
Right now I'm convincing my husband to go to Monroe too and he is seriously considering it because this has literally changed our lives.
Best of luck!

[color=silver]this is truly so encouraging. i am actually looking at the tuition for monroe college and it is extremely expensive, and from what i hear, financial aid, etc. isn't a huge option. luckily for me, i have money saved away. i guess that's what being frugal and not having "fun" does...you have a little something to show for it later...and i would love to invest it in my education.
i am so glad that monroe college has changed your life. why do you feel that is? what degree does your husband want to pursue? i'm actually hearing pretty good things about it. so how long did it take you to finish the lpn program and was it super hard to get in? :)
i have job security and that is saying a lot these days. i used to work for a corporation that recently let go of 35k employees and i think another 50k are going to get their pink slips soon. i thank god everyday that i am not in a position where i have to worry about losing my job right now. my health care and other benefits are really good and really cheap because i'm in a union. i get plenty of sick days and paid holidays and i never got that in any of the positions i worked in before i became an lpn.
my husband is considering becoming an lpn and i am encouraging him to go ahead and do it. i think he has what it takes and will make a good nurse.
the lpn program was 11 months and it's really time consuming. the program like all other nursing programs is hard to get into but not impossible. what i like is that once you're in you're in....none of that take all of these pre-reqs for x,y,z semesters and then we will think about letting you in. once you pass the entrance exam and the interview you are a nursing student...not a pre-clinical student but a real life certified nursing student and all you have do is maintain so that you can graduate. also remember if you go to monroe to do the lpn you are going to knock out the pre-reqs for the rn so that you don't have to back track to bridge to rn later on down the line.
i walked in off the street with no pre-reqs and from start to finish it takes 22 months to become an rn.

the only financial aid you can receive is loans after a four yr degree. if you are a nys resident and did not exhaust your 8 semesters of tap you can also use that
