If i didnt get into the LPN program im in now, i would of apply at monroe for the LPN. I think tuition is $10,000. for the entire program and they accept financial aid. they always have a open house..call and find out more information. The next LPN class is January 2009.

Ok, so here is the deal. I took the entrance exam to the lpn program at Monroe about 2 weeks ago. They only take 30 people into the program annually. Also, the 11-month 3 semester program has a cost of $21,000. It is so competitive. You have to keep your options open as it seems LPN programs in NY are very limited and competitive.

When I spoke the admissions counselor, I received the link below on the program:

I graduated from the LPN program in Dec '07 and I will graduate from the ADN program in April. It's a very competitive program to get into and it's very intense since you will be completing your RN pre-reqs while you are doing the LPN but it can be done with a lot of sacrifice and hardwork.

Good luck!

Cpaulino, are you trying other schools? Please don't put your eggs in one basket. Try Board of Education and Veeb in LI if you drive or not. Many people carpooled to VEEB if you are in lower NYC.

i've interviewed this pass weekend for the monroe program. the only thing holding me back in how expensive it is.

i also found another program that starts in the fall, 2008 at the mid-manhattan learning center. adultednyc.org the price is only $2,300 including everything.

let's see what happens and thank god for this website!:nuke:

That's great! The Manhattan Center is under the Board of Education and is cheap. Pray for the best!!

cpalino, I was wondering what happened with Monroe College.. Were you accepted?

I did get accepted. However, I realized I wasn't going to be able to survive the through the year by taking out loans to pay for the entire program (apparently, financial aid is not an option if you already have a 4-year degree). It simply was not in the best interested of my family for me to put us in so much debt. I've already applied for the Mid-Manhattan Learning Center Program, which is only $2300 and begin in the Fall. Here is the link, if you are interested:

Thank you for asking and if you have any questions about the process at Monroe, let me know. I know they have a testing cycle coming up in the spring.

I actually was accepted and I start Jan 7th, I am so nervous because of the cost... I felt as if I couldn't let this oppertunity pass since it is so hard to get into their programs. When do you know if your accepted for the cheaper lpn program?? And when do they stop accepting applications?

The deadline for the other program is January 16, 2009 to begin sometime in September. You would take the CNET test between February & May. If you do well. They will invite you back to take the TABE test and for an interview.

I felt the same way about Monroe. I did not want to pass up the opportunity. If you do not have children/family and can afford to take on the loans - Go for it! I hear that after the 11 month, if you go the RN program, the schedule is much more flexible that you can have a job & go to school. I wish you all the luck in world with the program. Let me know how you fair with it. Take care!

I have no children/family stopping me. I am however 25yrs old independent and badly need to support myself. Unlike you, I am able to max out my fed loans and be responsible for only 1200 per semester. My only hold up is work. My boss doesn't want me to succeed. It's a little sad to thi9nk she may actually be the reason why I can't attend. Everything is finalized as far as school goes, I just need to get another job by Jan 7th or I just have to withdraw from school :(. I would take out a loan to cover my living expenses but can't get a lone alone only with a co signer which I dont have. I can't afford to not work and can't live with anyone until I graduate. I'm praying for a miracle. It's tough but...... Anyway, enough bad news!!!!!! I hope everything works out with you. Keep me posted!!!! And, thank-you so much for responding to my posts. Happy Holidays
