Hi there,
I didn't see a forum for Linfield ABSN Summer 2021 so thought I would start one! Any others out there? I am super excited about this program so my fingers are crossed. I know it is pretty competitive.
How is everyone feeling?

Does anyone have any info on the average actual cost of the program? The listed price of this program is more expensive than the other programs I applied to, including more expensive than OHSU. For one school (Cedar Crest in PA), a representative told me that they realized CC's program is more expensive than other programs in the area, so each student is guaranteed a $10k scholarship at the very least. Anyone know if there's anything like that for Linfield? Or point me towards a resource? Thanks so much! Good luck everyone!
I don't have any tangible info to provide but I have heard from some previous Linfield students that everyone is offered a transfer scholarship at Linfield which brings the price down to be competitive with OHSU. Not sure on exact amounts but I thought that was encouraging information!
Hi everyone! I’m so glad I found this forum. I also applied to Linfield ABSN Summer start. I also applied to OHSU but it looks like they have already completed the essay prompt interview questions and are sending out acceptances so I assume I was rejected.
My stats are science GPA 4.0, overall GPA 3.91 with a bachelors in Human Biology. I have 2 years of working as an emergency department medical scribe with a couple different hospital volunteer experiences. What healthcare experience does everyone have? I am nervous I am not competitive enough.
I am also from California but have family around Oregon and have always loved it there!!
So anxious for it to be April 1st. Good luck everyone!!
Hi everyone! I applied to the ABSN program for the 2021 cycle and I was getting antsy about acceptances and I stumbled upon this forum. I actually just graduated from Linfield this past May with a B.S. in Biology, and I have a bunch of friends that have participated in the regular BSN track and I know a few that have done the ABSN track.
I don't really have that much health care related experience which worries me, but I was very involved on campus over my 4 years at the main campus at Linfield and I chose to have my two letters of recommendation from professors and mentors within the Linfield community. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
As far as financial aid goes, I can speak to the fact that Linfield does an amazing job to try and not let finances be a barrier that keeps you from going to school! As a student, the financial aid office was really resourceful. Good luck everyone! We're just a few weeks away!
Hi there! So nervous to hear about admissions decisions tomorrow!
I got an interview for OHSU's ABSN program but didn't end up getting in, and then was waitlisted (on the lowest rung) for OHSU'S ABSN to FNP program. I'm hoping to be a Family Nurse Practitioner in the future.
For reference, I have 6 months' volunteer experience at OHSU, 1.75 years as a TMS technician at a mental healthcare clinic, and a 3.78 non-science undergraduate GPA and 4.0 nursing pre-req GPA, but no shadowing and no more healthcare related volunteer hours.
It seems like a super competitive year and you all sound like extremely competitive applicants with robust healthcare backgrounds! Wishing you all the best and sending out good vibes.
I would love to know if y'all have any recommendations for pre-nursing jobs if I don't get in! I'm thinking of getting an online Medical Assistant certificate, maybe phlebotomist (although I hate getting poked), or something with a similarly short certification timeline. Any suggestions? Thanks so much!

The best of luck to you! I think Linfield and OHSU are pretty different when it comes to admissions. With your overall GPA, I think you have a good chance with Linfield! With OHSU's ABSN program, did they put you on a waitlist or did they just reject you? I kind of thought that all of the applicants who interviewed were just placed on the waitlist, but in a certain order.

Hi @sshall! Thank you! No waitlist for me, just an email saying they are unable to offer me admission, but that certainly makes sense! I wonder if they had too many applicants this year. But I am definitely going to do the application review phone call they offer and will post any insight I get to some forums here.

Hi there. I was given an interview with OHSU and was rejected with no offer for a spot on the waitlist. I have a 3.8 undergraduate science GPA, a 3.4 non-science, 4.0 graduate GPA (MS in kinesiology with a focus in orthopedic rehabilitation), and a 3.8 pre-requisite GPA. I worked for one year as a PT Aide, and just under 200 hours as a hospital volunteer in the ED. I was also a TA in my school's cadaver lab and worked as a TA for my general Chemistry professor. (I took extra general Chemistry that was not required as a pre-requisite.) I have over 15 years of experience working in post-rehabilitation. I was pretty crushed about not getting into OHSU, but I know that there are just so many good candidates with more clinical experience than me. No matter what, I will keep on moving forward until I get in somewhere. I know I want to be a nurse. No matter what happens tomorrow, I hope we can all stay positive and keep moving forward toward our goals.
