Hi just accepted a position with a company called Lifecare, wondering if anyone has worked for them in the past. Candid posts welcome, positive/negative/neutral. I know I'll find out for myself soon, but I'm always surprized by how much information is available on this website to the person that asks...so I'm askin.

I worked there and just left about 2-3 months ago. I was a new grad when I started there. The pay was much lower than hospitals in the area. My pt load was anywhere from 32-40. If you are a RN then you have to do all IV pushs, TPN, and pronoucing deaths just to name a few. If you work nights, you do all your own labs and wound treatments. The CNAs got vitals, but you do all your own blood sugars. Hmmm...anything else?

I'm a hospice nurse, so I see pt's at a Lifecare LTC.
In my opinion, it is the best run LTC. Period. There is low turnover, and many of the nurses have been there for years. The staff seems content there. I rarely hear anyone complain.
I'm sure it is hard work (just like any other nursing job), but if I were to work in an LTC, I would choose Lifecare hands down!

I worked for a Lifecare LTC Facility for two years.
Let me tell you, it turned out to be the WORST Nightmare in my Nursing Career.
Corporate treated us like "The Red-Headed Stepchild".
There was a very high turnover rate with both floor staff & Management.
I was used as a "Scapegoat" for many issues in the building due to poor DON leadership.
Things were so bad that it was affecting my health to the point that my doctor wanted to put me on a Medical Leave.
To make a long story short.....
I will NEVER work for Lifecare again!!

To OP: I was a long term Life Care employee (25+years). I will answer any question you got but only thru private message.
To all: Just remember that state laws vary and the DON/Administrator will always have a good deal of influence over the facility. Therefore, just because a facility is ran a certain way in one state, does NOT mean it will run the same in the next state - good or bad.

We have a LifeCare in my community and I work with a few people who have worked for them. It seems to be like any other LTC; high patient load, a lot of staff turnover, and a skeleton crew for staffing. My best friend worked for them for 8 years and absolutely loved it. Just have to try it out and see.
I'm glad to go into any job with my eyes n ears open. Hoping I got the right facility with the right management and the right (not beaten into the ground from overwork) staff. They offered me a generous orientation...that's encouraging. Appreciate the comments...keep em comming. I may be stupid and getting in over my head but, I don't see any other jobs knocking at my door either! I had a very good first impression so we'll see.
As an RN, the TPN,Pushes, IV's,labs. That's something I can see would be really hard with limited time per client.
I'm hoping to learn to be a really good supervisor that can make a difference, so it's a good place to work. I really hope I don't end up with crushed dreams and all that....wouldn't be the first time though lol:cool:

a little update, reality has set in....nuff said.
Are you still there?
yup...I'll PM u a little later.
I'd be interested in what's up too. Best of luck to you.
thanks, I'll pm u, mostly it's new to the position growing pains, they are being very supportive and some things are just the way nursing is no matter what. Anyway....I'm still hanging in there.
