Hello DoGoodThenGo,
Thank you for your comment, but please don't damper anyone spirits in this forum. If you do not have no interest in applying or having anything to do with issue then why are you are here? At this time no negativity is needed here. We are our own person and we are going to do whatever we feel to do. If VegaStar or any other person wants to pursue legal action that is their business.
What do you want us to do? Sit down and keep quiet? NO WAY!!!! I would rather die than to not have my voice heard
I believe you are not getting the idea of why we are doing what we are doing. This is our lives and it seems that SUNY Downstate do not care about what their decision has caused. No preparation were made to accommadate applicants. Those who have been accepted last year and deferred have every right to pursue legal action. Last time I check it is illegal for them to freeze admissions on accepted student without accommodating them. (Check a lawyer if you need to)
SUNY Downstate and Long Island College Hospital are both nursing programs are very good. Things could go smoothly if SUNY Downstate can accept the fact that they can have both a two year and four year nursing program.
Since I don't have a dog in this hunt am pretty much staying out of it. However will say this: what does anyone hope to achieve by bringing legal action against LICHSON?Yes, can understand hurt feelings, time wasted, lack of options and so forth, but if you got all your money back (something not always easy in these sort of situations), I'd consider myself lucky and move on.
Think about it: what sort of staffing/faculty do you think is going to be hanging around a nursing program with an uncertain future? What sort of persons will they be able to recruit? What sort of facilites and so froth would such a place be able to offer nursing students?
Bad as many are feeling now (and cannot say I blame you), think how much more worse you'd feel if the program opened up but the education *stunk* for many of the above reasons. Then you'd really be in a tight spot with few alternatives aside from transfering to another NP (not easy if at all possible), or sticking it out and wishing for the best.
