I want to sign the petition. When and where can we meet up to sign.

Also, I have spoken to a lawyer and i was told that what LICH is doing is in fact illegal and we can sue them for detrimental reliance. College cant not legally know about the possibility of closing and keep accepting applications ( False representation) or close and not notify anyone within reasonable time. As of today no one has been officially notified and there is a reason why. Since what they have done is not legal they are keeping quite and keep saying a letter is in mail even though its not because they are hoping everyone will forget about this situation and move on. That's what a lawyer said. So if we all meet up and go together to a lawyer we can all cheap in and sue the living (you know what) out of them and it wont cost too much considering there is a lot of us. What you guys think ???

i dont know. but we can all get together and go to a lawyer. explain our situation and ask him how much it would cost to sue the school.

Hello all, Hope you guys had a wonderful weekend. I have recieved a letter over the weekend from LICHSON about the freeze on the admissions for the fall. However, I still am going to have the petition ready to sign at 6pm. I know it will not allow them to open admissions for fall but at least it will get our voices heard. If you are still interested in signing feel free to contact me at [email protected] for location. If you can make it today, I can arrange for another time and place that is convenient for you. Also those who I have contact me before there has been a change in location. Please contact me before traveling to the first location.

I want to first thank those who came out to sign the petition. I am sorry that I was unable to meet with others as well. However I have edited the petition and also created an online petition where everyone can sign.

The staff of LICH in the merger:::

Under the plan, LICH would become a campus of UHB. It would become a public hospital, which would make it eligible for additional state funding, higher reimbursement rates, and lower medical malpractice coverage. The merger needs agency approval to close, but has already been supported by the state Health Department.

Only the physicians, however, will become public employees. In a novel approach, the RNs and other staff will remain in the private sector as employees of Staff Co, a private Brooklyn-based corporation created for this purpose. This will avoid adding nearly 2,000 jobs to an already depleted state budget.

The physical buildings will become of a separate private corporation Newco.

So because I got my acceptance last year and deferred my spot, I automatically get a spot in the fall but I think it will be at downstate son but I'm not really sure. Everything was very vague and the registrar said she doesn't even know what's going to happen tl the school or the employees. It's a very gray area and no one knows what's going to happen at this point. She just told me to be patient and wait and they are doing everything they can to resolve everything and to be fair to everyone. So, no straight answer at this point, just to be patient.

I heard that if you were accepted this year, you should be starting in August. You might need to call to verify.
