License Surrendered due to HIPAA volation

Published

Hi I voluntary surrendered my CNA license due to a HIPPA violation. Even though I didn't agree with the discipline I did what I thought would be the quickest and painless to deal with. My question is I am currently in nursing school and wanted to know if I can still apply for an RN license is I have a discipline on my CNA record.

PLEASE ONLY SERIOUS RESPONSES, IF I WANTED AN ANSWER TO A JOKE I WOULD HAVE ASKED ONE....

Did you have a LICENSE to give up, or a certificate? And I HAVE to do this: it's HIPAA...

I have a license from the state. After the violation I did attend a HIPPA course through a local nursing school to regain more knowledge on the law.

Your best bet would be to check with the Board of Nursing in the state where you anticipate working. It would be a bummer to go through the rigors of nursing school and then have trouble getting a license. They should be able to give you the best guidance on how to proceed. Good luck.

Only your state BON can answer that question.

Best of luck.
