Question? I work as a Corrections Nurse. I still maintain HIPPA there as best I can. My question is this: the company I work for is requiring us to write first and last names, DOB, meds and allergies on ALL med envelopes. Any inmate that comes to the med cart can see these with other inmates information. Isn't that a HIPPA Violation?

This response assumes that your facility is a covered entity. Which it technically might not be. In either case, it is reasonable that you would want to maintain inmates' privacy as best as possible.
If the concern is at a med cart, isn't there a way to provide a cover (not of the whole cart)--I'm imagining some kind of bin with rows of envelopes. can't the front row have something covering it (even a piece of cardboard) such that others can't have an unobstructed and prolonged view?
