to endorse from CA you need permanent license but ther is a way of doing it I think it is application by licensure and you complete requirements for foreign trained nurse and ask CA to forward your results.

Have you tried doing a search in this forum as I know Suzanne has answered this a couple of times regarding endorsement with CA and no SSN

okay. thank you silverdragon102 ;)

Passing the NCLEX exam does not give you an actual license for CA. You need to follow the License by Examination procedure and have CA BRN submit your passing results to them. You also need to submit the CES before they will look at your application.

thank you so much suzanne. okay

I recently passed the Nclex examination under the state of California and my visa screen is on process. I got an employment contract from a hospital in Texas but haven't sign in yet. How am i suppose to apply for a license in texas if I don't have the actual license from CA? thanks.

Third paragraph explains what you need to do. Much has already been written about the process, a search would have picked out mny threads for you. https://allnurses.com/forums/f75/california-initial-licensure-253147.html

Don't forget you will be affected by retrogression

Can you clarify something please:

If you get a license in California and you are forgien trained.

Do you still have to submit CES to Texas for License Endorsements from California to Texas?

Yes. Ca do their own assessment and for any BON when endorsing and a foreign trained nurse you have to meet their requirements for foreign trained. Also if initial with Ca and no SSN then you do not get a license to endorse and have to complete licensure by application and get Ca to forward results of exam

^ Thanks so much for the information. I went through the Texas BON website and just have a couple more questions... If I apply through examination, does that mean I need at least 2 years hospital experience before I could apply for one? Also, According to the website, there is an option of taking the refresher course. WHere is the refresher course being offered? If it is in Texas, does that mean they will give the applicant a visa to go to Texas in case the applicant doesn't have one?

The US government does not grant a visa to go to a state for a refresher course.

You are looking at several years before you would have a chance at a visa, you have more than enough time to get experience. But as a new grad, it is usually not required either.

And you cannot take a refresher course without an active license either.
