Hi there...anyone receive their letters to take the TEAS V for Golden West College for Fall 2011? Thought I would start a thread for those of us who did and may have questions for each other.
Did u receive anything from SANTA MONICA yet? I called and somebody told me that my name was on high position on the waiting list. So i have to wait another semester (total 4) wow... Hopefully, somewhere gonna pick me this Fall. So I dont have to take NLN test for SMC.
GWC wont send out anything until April. Good luck to all of us this time. They will change Admission criteria next time. No lottery any more???!!?? not sure. tehehe*
hnguyen509,
Didn't we apply at the same time for Santa Monica? you got me worrying now! I emailed them a couple days ago because they originally said they would send out a notice in Feb about testing but they never did. She replied and said that testing would now be in April, not March. What number did you call? I want to make sure I'm on the waiting list... Thanks!!
I heard that the new criteria for next year is taking Statistics. Math 30 is not going to be enough enough. :/ So if we don't get accepted this year we have take Statistics. I thought that I'd be over with my math. I was also told that they are sending letters at this point only to students that do not meet the criteria for eligibility, meaning that if you haven't gotten a letter yet at this point, it's good because at least you haven't got rejected.
Did you get a letter already?? that's awesome!! it means that you are practically accepted for Fall only IF a student that was accepted for Fall goes to a different school or changes his/her mind and decides not to accept the invitation. If everybody accepts the invitation then for sure you get to start in Spring 2013. Congratulations!!!
I just spoke to nursing counselor today. She said there were 600+ applications this year. 40 for Fall. 40 for Spring. I didnt know that it was cut down from 60 to 40 spots until i talked to her. She said 100% for sure that the selection was based on random lottery. as long as you're 77% cut score or above, you might have a spot. They do not select student based on TEAS test. But student needs to pass it to get selected.
Each school has different cirteria to choose student. Make sure you apply many school. All nursing programs in Community College in Socal are approved by CALIF-BON. This mean you can apply to CSU (RN-BSN) later. We do not worry about accredition by NLN or stuff like that. its just one of the requirement for ppl who is RN in CA moving to another state. And they require it (NLN accreditation).
