I thought this would be fun.
Pick a medical word. Ask what it means. The responder answers and picks the next word.
This one always cracks me up because it sounds like a word we don't normally use in general conversation: My word is...
MASTICATE
Sclerencephaly: This one sounds like scleroderma and I had a patient with this once, so I'm going to guess that it's the buildup of extra connective tissue in the brain.
Now I'll look it up.
Sclerencephaly: A general term for scarring and shrinkage of the substance of the brain. Sclerencephaly occurs because of chronic inflammation of the brain matter.
Close.
JAMAIS VU
oh yeah, forgot to add a wordmy word: HHT;)
It must be Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT), or Osler-Weber-Rendu Syndrome. It is a disorder of the small and medium sized arteries of the body. HHT primarily affects 4 organ systems; the lungs, brain, nose and gastrointestinal (stomach, intestines or bowel) system. The affected arteries either have an abnormal structure causing increased thinness or an abnormal direct connection with veins (arteriovenous malformation).
VERY INTERESTING! That's what I'm talkin' about. I love learning this stuff!
