Hi everyone! I am doing Suzanne's plan and I just started a couple of days ago. I haven't received her study plan yet since I'm still answering the questions in the book. How long does it take to do all 76 chapters? I have only been able to do it a couple of hours a day because of my baby and I have needed to go back and review on a couple since I did worse than 75%, which takes more time (and I don't mind). This seems like it will take a month or two to do, which I will, but I was curious how long it took others to do the tests. :wink2:

Everyone works at a different pace, but the last time I checked, Suzanne recommends that you have at least six weeks before your test date if you're using her plan.
Hi Eric,
Thanks for responding. I am aware that once I answer all questions in the Saunders book Suzanne will give me a 6 week study guide. I just wanted to know how long it takes people to complete the Saunders questions before we get our 6 week study guide. Like does it take people 2 weeks or 2 months. Thank you though!!! :-)

Hello,
I have a baby too so it has been hard but, I wanted to finish the first step of her study guide before I started working so I did it in 3 weeks. I am also going to be working the night shift so I have been trying to train myself to stay up late. During that time, I worked on that. I had to re-read a LOT of the chapters but, I also did not mind because it really seemed to help. I tried to work the entire day doing questions when my husband did not work so he could watch our son. Now, I am just waiting to get the next part of the study guide! Good Luck.

i started w. the book half of MAy, now its already September and i am chapter 65. I might be slow but thats ok, i will reach the chapter 76 soon......Goodluck
I am glad to hear that it does take time. I had it in my head that everyone finishes the chapters in a week or two. Thank you for letting me know where you're at.
Suzanne says to finish the chapters first. Then email her and tell her when all your chapters are complete and she will then start her study plan, which will take 6 weeks. I PM'd her about that last week because I was confused too!
Does anyone find it "impossible" to remember ALL the foods listed under every vitamin and labs (Na, K, Cl.....)?

I just took a break from studying!I'm also doing suzanne's plan and I am hoping to finish the book in 2 weeks. I'm doing 5 chapters per day.
If I score 75% or higher, I just go over the rationales of all the questions whether I got it right or wrong and I read all the pyramid points in the chapter. If I score lower than 75%, I go back and read the chapter, then go over the rationales of all the questions.
I did 90% on the nutrition part so I didn't have to read the chapter BUT! I agree that it's impossible to memorize all the food listed so I try to "generalize" some food so it's easier to remember like food that are rich in colors (banana, squash, carrots, cantaloupe, etc) are rich in K, food that are processed, canned or seafood are rich in Na, Dairy food is usually rich in Ca. Those are the easiest to remember. For chloride, I had to memorize at least 3 food.
There are also diets that you just have to memorize the food in it Such as food high in thiamine, gluten-containing food, and low-purine diet. These categories..we just have to memorize it
Goodluck in your studying! We still have a long way to go in finishing the first part but we can do this!

Just to clear up things, my program take a full six weeks and that is when you get to the CD section. What you are doing now is the review, and that time is not part of the six weeks.
Soem take just a few days to get thru the book, others take weeks. Just depends on how well you remember things. Remember that you just need to do the questions at the end of the chapters, you do not read the chapter first. If you get more than 75% correct, then you go to the next chapter. So with five chapters, if you do not need to read them, then you are only talking about 75 questions, if you look at it that way.
But you need to get thru the book, before you are ready for the six week program. I used to require the review just if a nurse had not passed of had trained overseas, but now with the great variances in programs, find that it works much better for everyone to do the review first.

Hey kemerick,
I also have a baby and I'm a big procrastinator. It took me about 4 weeks to go through the entire book and that was taking a few days off due to me being sick and then another few days off because my son was sick. Just try to do what you can when the baby is asleep. That's pretty much the only time I had available. Good luck and good naps!
Hi Heather!
Thank you for your feedback. Have you taken the boards again? I assume you have since your "Heather RN". Congrats if you have! How many chapters would you do each day, or on the days you did study? I feel like I have only been able to do 1 chapter a day and I'm afraid that is taking too long. I guess I'm afraid that I will forget everything I'm learning now in the beginning, for example when I get to chapter 60 I won't remember what I learned in the beginning chapters (I'm on ch. 17). How was the rest of Suzannes study plan? :-) Kim
