Length of time it took to complete questions in Saunders?

Published

Hi everyone! I am doing Suzanne's plan and I just started a couple of days ago. I haven't received her study plan yet since I'm still answering the questions in the book. How long does it take to do all 76 chapters? I have only been able to do it a couple of hours a day because of my baby and I have needed to go back and review on a couple since I did worse than 75%, which takes more time (and I don't mind). This seems like it will take a month or two to do, which I will, but I was curious how long it took others to do the tests. :wink2:

Hi Heather!

Thank you for your feedback. Have you taken the boards again? I assume you have since your "Heather RN". Congrats if you have! How many chapters would you do each day, or on the days you did study? I feel like I have only been able to do 1 chapter a day and I'm afraid that is taking too long. I guess I'm afraid that I will forget everything I'm learning now in the beginning, for example when I get to chapter 60 I won't remember what I learned in the beginning chapters (I'm on ch. 17). How was the rest of Suzannes study plan? :-) Kim

Hi Kim,

I actually didn't use Suzanne's entire plan- I found this site the day after I took the NCLEX, but I actually did that first part on my own. It's pretty much all I did to study and I passed on my first try. I also took the exam 9 months after I graduated (my son was born the week after graduation), so the first part alone is an excellent study plan. However, with so many people praising her plan, I would recommend the entire thing, but I don't know what it consists of. I did 2-3 chapters a day, but I also went back and read the entire chapter if I scored less than 85%. (I was pretty terrified, so I needed the percentage to be that high so I would feel competent...) I was also scared I would forget everything, but I didn't and I'm completely ADD :monkeydance: these days, so don't worry! If you do well on the questions, it won't take you as long. That was incentive enough for me! ;) I just had to make myself slow down, read carefully, and think about the answer and I generally scored better. Good luck to you and I will pray for you!!! Kiss the baby and try to relax! ;)

Hi everybody,

I feel good now that I'm not alone! I have a baby too. so, I understand exactly what you're feeling right now! I'm also reading saunder's (doing 2-3 ch./day ) if, i get less than 75% then I read entire chapter & do the qs. again coz..i want to make sure that i know the content of that chapter before i go further. if, I get more than 75% then I read all rationales whether I got right or wrong. I guess that's why it takes time!

sometimes i feel that when am i going to finish this whole book? I feel the same thing like you said "am i too slow"? & with baby it's not an easy to spend time whenever you feel like reading it!

we both wish each other good luck for finishing & remembering saunder's!

My question is this about Saunders. When you get to the last question in the back of each chapter it is not numbered, so far it has been a choose all that apply in all the chapters I have read. Anyway, do you count that in your percentage? I do, but wondered if I should since it is not numbered.

As for my plan, I am giving myself 6 weeks to get through the book, then I plan on starting the 6 week plan. I graduate in a few weeks so by about 2-3 weeks after graduation I should be done with the review and ready for the NCLEX.

I do count the critical thinking question with the rest. If there are 20 questions, I'll then say there's 21. They have questions like that on the boards, where you do fill in the space or do order.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR RESPONDING! YOU HAVE ALL HELPED ME OUT TREMENDOUSLY! I FEEL MUCH MORE RELAXED KNOWING I AM NOT ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah well, I am feeling a lot more confident the more questions I do!

I'm afraid I won't remember everything, but I keep telling myself that I bet everyone feels that way. I keep thinking that everything I go over now, even if I do get less than 75% and I go back and review it immediately, that I won't remember it 20 chapters later! I'm trying to stay positive and trust that Suzanne knows what she is doing, since everyone else has passed that has done her study plan! WE WILL PASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :wink2:
