Lehman college HELP PLEASE!!!

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone

I am trying to enter the nursing program for fall 2017. I was told by someone that in order to apply to the nursing program you need to be a student in the spring semester. Does anyone know how truthful that is? Please help

I just googled Lehman College and all kinds of info popped up. You really need to contact their College of Nursing and talk to an advisor. Don't put it off; nursing classes fill quickly. They should be able to tell you exactly what you need to do.

How can we help? Only the college can give you accurate information.

It's true. You need to be a matriculated student before applying to the nursing program.

And here's the thing: who knows if EllaBella1 knows what she's talking about? (no offense, please, EllaBella). Folks come on here all the time who are not nurses, have no intentions to be a nurse, and just like to jack around with folks. Not to mention the fact that rules might have changed since EllaBella went to school there.

If I were making important life-changing decisions, I'd sure as heck go to the source of the correct information. Do not make any decisions based upon the internet.

Unless it's what to have for lunch.

I know I have to apply to lehman beforehand but do i actually have to attend there for the spring semester or just be enrolled ready to begin classes in the fall.

Thank you. I've been to lehman college which just left me more confused. I plan on going back today with more questions. I was hoping a student with lehman nursing experience would respond because sometimes we learn better from our peers.

I'm in exactly the same boat. Yes, you need to be enrolled in the school. I'm taking a spring semester course to make sure that my application will be considered. I sat down with two advisors in the Nursing Dept to make sure this info was accurate.

I have heard that you need to be a student in Spring more than not. Do you have all of your prerequisites completed? I ask because if you need to complete HIN 268 it is completely closed for the Spring semester, and they will not accept a summer course. I believe they also want you taking the HESI exam on their campus. *Anyone please confirm or deny this as being a must so I don't give false information.

I am currently at Lehman but have decided to not apply to their accelerated program because of their painful administration. People do not answer phones or emails by when you need them to (or at all). Their website isn't always up to date and it should be a powerhouse of information if they don't like answering phones. To add ANY SINGLE nursing course, you must gain permission in person, the exact day classes start adding for the semester. Be prepared to wait outside the door before the nursing office opens, or be prepared to sit there for hours, they close as fast as they open. CUNYfirst will show these classes are not full but they are! Lehman's nursing program doesn't use CUNYfirst or update it. That means if you want to know if a class is full or not, you need to call constantly and hope they answer the phone. If you don't live in the Bronx, just hope someone doesn't get there to add the class before you can.

I'm sorry to be a downer but I have been a student at a few CUNYs for years and this administration is truly the worst and not student friendly. It's a great program, but they make it so you are fighting so hard to add classes rather than to actually EXCEL in them. Please apply to other nursing programs as well just to ensure options. Go to open houses!

If you get into Lehman's and want to go for it, please keep on them and make sure to know exactly when courses can be added, so you can be there first.

I have emailed the admissions office at Lehman and was told that before applying to their nursing programs one had to be a Lehman student. What this means is, first one has to apply to the college directly. Once accepted, the student can now apply to their nursing programs. However, one does not have to take any classes at Lehman to apply to the nursing programs.
