I’m applying for generic, however I think my GPA may drop this semester ? I’m taking an HIN class online, and I’m also taking Organic Chemistry with Professor Ravi. These classes are pretty tough and my GPA may drop to a 3.8. Also are you considering taking the credit option instead of a letter grade?

HI, You have an excellent GPA.

If I were you I rather have my clear grades just in cases.you would know in the future you may need it for master degree.

also I have heard there are many factors to sorting out the nursing candidates

some say there is more chances that someone who finished all pre nursing before . also, I heard that if someone took pre nursing or transferred form other school like me has less chances. I do not who I have to believe.

But as far as know nursing department are smarter than we think.

they will really think of it.

if I am the nursing department I rather go with a candidates who have clear grades.

I would wait until nursing department post something.

they posted homepage that whoever want to Summer class, send them empl id and courses.

so keep look for the homepage of the nursing dept

can I ask who is your HIN269 professor? how is the study?

I just am reading hIN269 pdf that my friend gave me for killing time.

thanks

Hello, thank you for the advise. Also can you elaborate when you said, “some say there is more chances that someone who finished all pre nursing before.” ? Do you mean that people who finished their pre reqs earlier have an advantage?

And as far as my HIN professor I have Professor Rivera. The discussion boards are quite easy but tedious. I just finished my first paper, it hasn’t been graded yet. She does not communicate very well. She takes a while to respond to emails sometimes.

As I told it might be rumors. No body knows! Now ,I do not believe anybody. Whenever I have doubt I just send an email to Ms alison akin who is undergraduate nursing adviser. Or keep getting nursing department homepage. Just think of it there a lot nursing candidates who has high GPA before this Spring and they may think of not getting grades to keep the high GPA. However there is only 80 seats for candidates, the nursing dept will find other way to sort out. It is so unpredictable and I m not confident. Is hin 268 or 269?

Anyway thx for your response and good luck.

Hi guys. I was wondering if anyone thinks I have a good chance of getting in the program, here are my stats:

GPA: 4.0

HESI: 89%

Reading: 88

Math: 96

A&P: 84

CT: 820

Also, the president of Lehman emailed everyone stating that if we wish to change our letter grade to credit/no credit option we can do that and it won’t affect our GPA for this semester due to COVID-19. Are people who are applying to the nursing program allowed to do this?

Hi Bri143,
Great stats! I think you should email [email protected] and ask if they take pass/fail pre req classes just to be sure!

If I remember correctly from previous threads, you are allowed to take non nursing courses in these semesters but not nursing courses.

Okay, thank you!

I’m taking HIN 268.

Also, I noticed that earlier you said HIN does not factor into your science GPA. Did you confirm this with any of the advisors? I’m just curious because I’m seeing so many different answers.

Hi Bri143,

I had a nursing advisor (forgive me I do not remember her name, she sits in the second office in T-211) also inform me that HIN's do NOT factor. Determination is made (from my interpretation of what she said) from Pre-Req GPA and HESI as long as minimum requirements are met. Hope this helps....but as always talk with the Dept for concrete info!

I am taking HIN 269 this semester and unfortunately it has been a very disappointing experience - COVID-19 pandemic not included. I believe I am doing "well" thus far however I will not hesitate to evoke this CREDIT policy if I am unhappy with the Prof.'s evaluation of my performance.

In my opinion I do not see how any institution could/would discredit this notation given the circumstances which surround this pandemic. However, Kil Park makes a valid point and if you are considering Grad School you may want to heavily consider evoking this option if the course you would apply it too is a vital admission course.

Of course adhere to what the nursing dept says.... just my humble opinion.

Stay safe everyone!

Ms Alice.Akan has been the undergraduate nusing advisor. She actually calculated my GPA and wrote down my application. She did not include HIN 268 for GPA, so if u r good with the organic chem , better have clear grades. Believe there r a lot of students do not want to have the clear grades if they r not good with current classes. Cuny edu can say whatever they want to say, but the decisio makers are nursing dept. I met Catherin Alice the nursing chair man, she is not easy going , she is not going to make the easy for us LOL. One of my friends is taking 3 classes now, he thinks he is lucky by this covid ( he is not doing good) . But think about some who took one or two classes with 4.0 GPA with 3 of pass grades! With so many candidates. Time to do critical thinking:)

Hi bri! Wonderful grades! U can definitely kick up your feet and relax LOL. However, in regards to the credit/no credit, the email also states that any classes that u choose for that grading, will not be added into your GPA and can inflict on your current financial aid. This might not affect u as much because of your GPA, but for others, they should seek advisement before making that decision. Also, if it’s a science course, it might not work because a C- to a D+ is considered passing and would show up as “Credit”, but it is not acceptable for the program, so I’m not sure about science classes.

WOW! just read everyone’s comments. So nervous about it all?
