Lehman College Fall 2017 Admissions?

Hey,

I am considering Lehman College for ABSN (and Generic, as a second option) for the fall 2018. From what I heard and been told (by the admissions staff) your stats are very, very good! I am sure you have a great chance of getting accepted!!! Good luck!

Btw, are you a current student at Lehman? If so, how is it? What time is your micro class (lecture and lab)?

Thanks so much for your feedback! I am currently a student there and from my experience I think Lehman is a good school. The professors I've taken have all been knowledgeable on the subject they're teaching and they're usually available for office hours and are willing to help if you have any questions.

I take micro lecture and lab in the mornings(different days) beginning at 9:30am. The lecture lasts an hour and 40 minutes and the lab lasts 3 hours, however I believe they are offered during the afternoons as well. If you have any more questions feel free to ask!

Hello! Based on your scores, I think your chance of getting in is very high.

Just two questions: What did you use to study for the HESI? If you studied for the critical thinking part, what did you use? The critical thinking part of the HESI seems to be what messes a lot of students up.

Hey Amberrae!

Thanks for your feedback! I hope they are! I'm mostly worried about maintaining my gpa this semester :nailbiting: As for the Hesi, I used a couple of different resources. I used the Elsevier Hesi A2 review book mainly for the math and reading comprehension. I also bought the McGraw Hill's Hesi A2 3 practice tests book and did the practice tests for the math, reading and A&P sections. As for A&P, I mainly used the Cliffnotes A&P quick review book. I read through all of it while also taking notes. If something didn't make sense I would watch anatomygmc on youtube. She's a professor who posted her lectures on youtube. I highly recommend watching her videos, she makes everything so easy to understand! I also bought an app called PocketPrep Hesi A2, which has practice questions for every section of the exam except critical thinking. This app costs 12 dollars but I definitely think it was worth it. The practice questions are really similar to what is actually on the exam. As for Critical thinking, I didn't really study for it because I didn't know how. However, I did see one picture that stated the priorities for nurses which was really helpful to remember for some of the questions. I would say just try to analyze the situation from all perspectives, think about all the consequences for each choice given, try to think about which patient would be most harmed if you don't attend to them first and also keep in mind the scope of practice for a nurse. Thanks for your feedback as well. Right now I am at Hunter, but it offers my few other pre-reqs at times that are not convenient for me, so I was thinking of transferring to Lehman to take those. Also, I know I have to a student there before I can apply its nursing program.

Btw, how hard was the HESI? In any case, good luck with the rest of your application!

I'm applying for this fall's accelerated program. Here are my scores:

Pre-req gpa: 3.9 (I did my pre-reqs at Laguardia CC and Hunter)

Hesi overall: 94%

- math: 100% (the elsevier book was spot on for this section)

- reading comp: 97%

- a&p: 88%

- critical thinking: 890

I didn't study much for HESI. I did the practice math problems (know how to add/subtract/multiply/divide fractions and do proportions--I swear that was 90% of the test) from the Elsevier book and skimmed a cliffsnotes A&P book. I had no idea how to study for critical thinking either.

Hesi overall: 90

Reading:84

A&P: 88

Math: 100

Ã‡ritical thinking: 800

Books I used: Hesi Admission Assessment Review(4th edition) ,Cliffnotes Anatomy and Physiology quick review, and 3 evolve Reach (Hesi) A2 practice Test

I'm a little worried about the critical thinking because I asked the lady after the test and she said 800 was the cut-off for Critical thinking So I just made it

What do you guys think?

Oh okay I hope you're able to find convenient times then! I know lehman has offered some of the pre reqs mornings, afternoons and on the weekends. The Hesi wasn't as hard as I expected but I did study a month in advance, mostly for A&P because it's a lot of information. The math however, as long as you study from the Elsevier study guide, you'll be good to go! The reading comprehension wasn't difficult either, the passages were pretty short and the questions were usually straight forward. I would recommend you study a lot either way just to be safe!

you can obtain all these forms (and many others, like your clinical evaluation forms!!!) on the Lehman's nursing website. Once there, you will see to the left all the links to different subsections of the website that will contain all the forms you need.
