I am applying to Lehman College's nursing program for this upcoming August and was wondering what my chances were. I just took my HESI exam and did pretty terribly on the Critical Thinking section (780). The other portions, I did fairly well. Math (98%), Reading (88%), and Anatomy (88%). My pre-req GPA is a 3.74. My overall GPA is close to a 3.5. I was wondering what my chances were with the 2 year program. One of the faculty told me that the critical thinking score was pretty low, but I should apply anyway. Do I have any shot at getting in? Thanks.
Congratulations to all those accepted...Those who are still waiting should not give up..Last year, some of my friends received their admissions in July and later on.
For dosage calculations, you will be sent a document as part of the orientation package..Study it very well especially the conversions. You can also go online to practice questions by typing "nursing dosage calculations." Enjoy your vacations..
@NatoriEvolved I think that's how it works in most professional programs and especially one such as nursing. You are placed in classes and clinical sites by the department.
@Slimabrams The department will send a dosage calculation package with the orientation package through email so you should be able to print it out and use that to practice. That's what the majority of last year's class used and it really helped. Like I said in a previous post, don't underestimate the exam because many people end up doing worse than they intended. It can be tricky. Best of luck.
To everyone else waiting to hear from the department, I would say not to give up because last year, others received their acceptance late July!
