Lehman college 2016 admittance

Published

I am applying to Lehman College's nursing program for this upcoming August and was wondering what my chances were. I just took my HESI exam and did pretty terribly on the Critical Thinking section (780). The other portions, I did fairly well. Math (98%), Reading (88%), and Anatomy (88%). My pre-req GPA is a 3.74. My overall GPA is close to a 3.5. I was wondering what my chances were with the 2 year program. One of the faculty told me that the critical thinking score was pretty low, but I should apply anyway. Do I have any shot at getting in? Thanks.

Hi Yonkers the overall passing grade for the HESI is a 75. Hoping you hear from them soon!

I'm going to the office tomorrow. The woman who makes the decisions said the final emails would be sent today.

Hello!

I was accepted into the accelerated program on June 1st. I went to pick up the admissions packet as was stated in the letter, but was told that they will be sending them out towards the end of June. They are delayed. What else is new? :-) Anyhow, I hope that helps and best of luck to everyone!

hi,

@evesdrop did you go to the office? if you did what did they say?

did anyone else receive the email? do you guys think they are going by last names alphabetically?

Hey I went to the office but it was closed -_- I'm pretty sure they're going by GPA and hesi scores. It seems like no one below a 90 overall HESI score has gotten in so far.

No many of my friends got in and their Hesi scores were below 90, one of my friends Hesi score was 83 over all and her science GPA was 3.8 and she received her letter two days ago. Don't lose hope guys, their probably still sending the letters

I have friends who got below 90 on their hesi but got in yesterday. I hope they are still sending out letters. I am so nervous at this point, if I don't hear anything by Monday afternoon I will have to go there. is there a way to confirm your admission at the office?

Hey Mita95,

Thanks a lot. I was really starting to feel hopeless. I have a 4.0 science GPA, 88 on the hesi, and 870 on the critical thinking section. I hope to hear something on Monday.

They go first by GPA then by HESI scores. It seems the nursing department is making it more harder to get into the program. The critical thinking portion was not much of a big decision factor from previous years and last year when I applied, it wasn't much of a huge deal either but I guess this year they factored that into the decision making process. Also I think the reason why they're making things rigged is because last year, they ended up accepting 120 students (the largest number they've ever accepted) and so they're probably trying to cut that number back to the usual 80 students they accept.

As as for information on orientation, sit tight because I did not receive mine until almost 3 weeks after I got accepted and they usually give the seniors info about their clinical sites before they do the new admits so exercise patience.

For those that got accepted, I would suggest you practice dosage calculation problems from now because you're going to get tested on it at orientation. You need to score 95-100 in order to avoid taking remediation courses. Don't worry though because it's an easy exam but do not underestimate it because people do end up failing it.

Hey Evesdrop

wow those are great scores, you should've received the letter by now. My overall HESI score was 90 and CT was 800. My GPA was 3.8 and I receive the letter 3 days ago. I think you should call and ask the department.

I got accepted and I have a hesi score of 82,critical thinking score of 880 and a prereq GPA of 3.7

I've been trying to contact the department. does anyone know where to get the department number?
