Question about Vicki Melazzo 40 hr at home course

I am getting ready to sign up for the VM Executive 40 hour at home course and was wondering if anyone has feed back on this particular avenue. If you have taken it, did you feel well prepared for the certification exam? Also if you happen to have any input on the certification exam as far as how often you can take it and the format (i.e. multiple choice, essay) I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thanks:wink2:

I agree the marketing is the hardest part or at least has been for me. You come away very inspired but then the hard work begins. I did the course in June and havent really got going yet. But everything is in place.

I took nothing with me I go it all there, you get a wheelie bag to put all your stuff in and everybody brings it to and from the course. Take a highlighter and that is all I used, because you dont have time to write down as you need to listen so you just highlight in your text book what you need to know. I knew nothing when I went yet I passed and I finished the test second.

I understood they would be sending me material, So I take it all they send is the DVD's, everything else is given out at the conference?

Boy I am sure glad it is a weelie. I was thinking about that since I am going to be walking to the conference.

May I ask what is the hold up in getting cases? Have you kept in contact with others from the conference, how are they doing?

I only paid for the basic course the week of the conference so I didnt recieve anything but unless my memory decieves me everybody was given the big book at the course registration-so dont take it with you.

Thanks for the tip. Anything else to offer?

Agnus,

Since you signed up for the VIP you will get EVERYTHING in the mail to your house - everything except the tote bag and the material for the 2 day apprenticeship - THEN when you get to the seminar you will get the tote bag and another clean copy of the core curriculum, then on the first day of the apprenticeship you get the materials for that :)

I took my "big book" (core curriculum) to the seminar - and was glad I did (I left the new fresh copy in my hotel room after the first day:)) - I had taken tons of notes from the DVD at home and found I was able to better listen to the seminar already having those notes in front of me and just adding nuances from the in-person instruction and interaction.

It is my *plan* to eventually scan my clean copy of the Core and then type in my notes - formatting them a little better than I did when handwriting them, hopefully improving my ability to easily access my notes and information --- well, that is my plan anyway :D

Good luck Agnus, I just completed the Atlanta Seminar and it's a great course. You will meet many many nurses from all over the country. Take some cards (about a 100) from your current job if necessary for networking. You will want to remember who has specific knowledge in certain areas of nursing for future reference.

Have a great time! Remember, we are nurses, and nurses can do ANYTHING!

Did you do any marketing after the seminar?

To those going to the seminar:

I am glad to hear about the tote. I was thinking of bring something to wheel my books and save my back.

I called regarding what to study and the 800 # for VMI suggested the litigation chapter. Any other suggestions? I will be driving out Sunday the 22nd. I hope for good weather.

Good luck to you, Nightngale!!!!

Luck? I need prayers girl, and lots of em ;)

Based on what everyone has been suggesting, I am not too worried. I can tell you I am naturally incline to test anxiety and my antidote is to study, study, and review. I do want to sneak in some socializing too and am looking forward to the networking. Just meeting the people here on this BB in the method I have already, talking on the BB and PMs has been most inspiring.

Thank you for all your support, siri.

You will have plenty of study time, Nightngale. That will be a given. Just relax. Don't fret over the material for they will guide you along the way.

Yes, have fun, too.

(I'll say a prayer for you as well)
