Hi All!
I am wondering if anyone else has applied to the Legacy Residency in Portland for February of 2021. We can update each other here! I haven't heard back yet but hopefully we'll be getting emails about the interview day soon.

Hi!
I applied as well, still haven’t heard anything. Anxiously checking my application status multiple times a day, however. Hopefully we hear something soon! What units did you guys apply for? I put NICU/PICU as my first, then general acute peds, then L&D.

Nope. Starting to just lose hope. But also just frustrated with their process.

How is it going for you all? I applied to the Legacy August 2021 start... Just closed this last week. So I'm curious how it all went for you - who got it? Several of my classmates were already Legacy employees, so they didn't need a BSN and were able to start last fall. I feel a little left behind.
I started a job (not in the pdx area). If you can stomach the drive, I’d recommend applying to Samaritan and Salem Health. Their application and communication process is light years ahead of providence and legacy
I did not get into the residency program, but honestly I think it was for the best. Legacy’s communication about the application was absolutely terrible. I emailed multiple times, all with genuine concerns, and was never given any info besides the run of the mill type of answers already posted on their FAQ page. I asked if they knew what units were hiring, and was told they did not know, despite it being months past the application deadline. It would’ve saved me a lot of anxiety to know the units I applied for were not hiring, and I could’ve closed that book with no headache. But no, I was told to just “keep checking your email for any updates”, to which there were absolutely no updates. I asked if managers were reaching out yet as it was about a month before the program started, and was told they still had time to reach out if interested. How can an employer just let candidates wait roughly 3 months to hear if they’re even a potential candidate? It gives applicants no way to make plans surrounding getting a new job (relocating), or NOT getting it (applying elsewhere). Eventually I knew I didn’t get it, which is totally fine, but the lack of honesty and open communication really set a bad tone. I’ve had other recruiters do everything possible to make potential employees feel welcome, and Legacy did the opposite. Eventually I reached out to their general recruiters and asked if they had any residencies specifically for pediatrics, and was told (by the same recruiter for the residency program, LOL) that Legacy generally does not hire external candidates into specialty positions. So, that was that. For what it’s worth, I managed to interview for a regular, non-residency position with Legacy and even then, it was not a warm experience. I recently was accepted into Multicares Residency program in Washington as a NICU nurse, so in the end things worked out, but good Lord was Legacy’s process just a nightmare. I genuinely hope your experience is better than mine was. Providence is awesome with their communication process, so apply there too! Have a back up plan, just in case. Things always work out ? Best of luck!

Wow - I wish I would've known that before I picked peds 1st - ?. I think I picked Med-Surg second, which is where I did my practicum...
I will check out MultiCare and keep updating my Providence app!
Thanks!
