Hi All!
I am wondering if anyone else has applied to the Legacy Residency in Portland for February of 2021. We can update each other here! I haven't heard back yet but hopefully we'll be getting emails about the interview day soon.
I really wish they would be honest and open about the positions available. I would check my application status neurotically, always anxious to know if there was a chance. Which there clearly wasn’t, lmao. I think the best way to get a job either at OHSU or legacy is to already work there.
Also, Providence told me they don’t ~usually~ have positions available for new grads in specialty areas like peds, just a heads up. I applied with peds/babies for all my choices and I got set up for an interview...only to learn it was for their med surg units only! Haha. But it’s always possible they’re needing peds, so totally go for it. Seattle Children’s also has a new grad residency, just like Multicare does. My advice would be to work a unit you genuinely want to. Right now I’m working med-surg and I’ve considered quitting probably at least once a week. ?

Yes!! I hope we do too. ? I would love to get the Legacy residency. I have a few friends there that really love it.
Have you had any others give you the recorded interview? I had one for Adventist and one for Salem Health. Although I don’t know if I can handle the commute to Salem Health from Beaverton ?

I haven’t heard anything from them either! At least it’s not just me ?
I would prefer ICU but I would honestly even be happy with medsurg if I got it at a good location here. Did you apply to Peace Health too? I heard someone has an interview for theirs this week so I’m pretty sure I won’t be getting one there since I haven’t heard from them. I also applied to Prov and OHSU. I’m going to apply to the VA residency too.
Okay, so we can keep each other posted on that one ?. What’s the VA? I dropped the ball for Peace Health and just missed the application deadline, but I’ve applied to Providence and Seattle Children’s. I’d like to be in Peds, but I’m also just hoping to get into a residency program somewhere near Portland.

The Veterans Hospital (VA) has a residency too. If you’re interested in that one, I can send you the link. Let me know! It was tricky to find.
And yes, let’s keep each other posted! I’ve been going crazy thinking about all this so it will be nice to have someone to compare what’s going on with! ?

I also eventually spoke with a Legacy recruiter and she told me they got over 500 applications for ~25 positions for February, so I imagine you have to have some pretty good connections to be able to get in. I ended up getting offers for residency programs in Olympia and Seattle. Seems like the Portland market is pretty rough for new grads.
