Legacy Health Residency, Portland, OR

Published

Just wondering if anyone else had applied to Legacy Health (Emmanuel Children's Hospital)? This is in Portland, OR. It closed last Friday and I am wanting to know when people start hearing from them about interviews. Thanks for any info you have!!

Congratulations ORRocksRN for getting the job. Keep us informed on how its going and when the next cohort starts to apply. I wish you the best.

I'm sorry Islandteam2003 that you did not get the job. Don't give up and you know Nicaragua sounds really good. Coming from a third world country, my goal is in the Public health with emphasis on helping the disadvantaged. Job hunting right now is very frustrating. Good luck though!!

Thanks Rufaro! I know I am in the right field...it's just a matter of finding the right place to be. Lots of homework to do again! I am happy for all those that did get placed! Maybe I will try again at Legacy for the next cohort!

Congratulations, ORRocks! What a competitive process!

And IslandTeam -- I'm really sorry. I was really hoping you would get it.

In some ways, I think I'm glad I didn't make it past the first round! I'm still hoping for jobs closer to home.

Hey lookinrn~

Thanks. I know God has a plan for me, and it will be better than MY plan! I am gonna keep my chin up and I am happy that there are RN's/new grads getting jobs! My day will come. I am sure of it!

I too went through the whole gamut of interviews for the nurse residency program. I interviewed in person in June with 500 other nurses, and received a call back on July 20th for a 2nd interview. Although the manager told me I would definitely know either way by the end of last week, I have yet to receive any notification. I called Friday and left a message, but had not heard anything by Monday, so I called again Tuesday and was routed to another voice mail. I'm beyond antsy to say the least, but it seems obvious that this is just not my time. It would have been great to hear something by now since I would have to move, but I'm assuming based on everyone's responses, that they have made their choices:/

It is really frustrating, all the waiting! I didn't get a 2nd interview with Legacy, but now I'm going nuts waiting on other people to make their decisions. *sigh*

Also, I got an e-mail from Legacy saying I had not gotten the job today. Since I didn't get a 2nd interview, I knew this already, but it lets you know that they are sending out notifications.

What area were you interested in?

Thanks so much for talking about your experience....I don't know why it didn't occur to me to check my school email. Well I did...and...rejection was sent a little over 2 hours ago. Talk about bummed :crying2:

It's funny, even when I know for sure, no doubt, that I'm no longer in the running, that final nail in the coffin is always hard to take.

When I saw the e-mail for a minute I thought maybe - my 2nd interview, but alas did not make happen. These rejections are starting to get to me. Back to the drawing board!!

people started getting calls for interviews today

Hey OR Rocks,

I am thinking about applying for the legacy program this fall, I am hoping to get a NICU position. Can you give me any tips, pointers, information.

I really need some insider info, I graduate in two weeks, when the info is supposed to be posted for the next round of residencys to start, but the time it will take to apply and interview is valuable time for a father and husband with no income.... So tell me anything you know. I would love to hear.

I am just really hoping to get a NICU position, walking into a NICU position as a new graduate in Oregon is really REALLY hard to do.

Thanks so much!!

swaRN, do you know for sure that they are posting the fall recruitment in two weeks? The website just says "fall" and I'm dying to know when exactly that means! I try calling but I always get a voicemail. I just emailed the recruitment person today to try and get an answer. If you have any info, I'd love to hear it!

do your preceptorship in NICU, work in NICU as a CNA or volunteer, get to know people, join your local NICU nurses association and get involved, network, talk to people and have excellent letters of reference. if you know anyone who works at Legacy, have them do a referral for you. in this market, its not enough to WANT it, you have to prove to them that you are the best choice out of all those other people...that you will work harder, longer, be more enthusiastic, help others, and go the extra mile. thats what it takes. they don;t care about your issues, they want to know what you can do for them. Thats what i did and it paid off. good luck.
